my thoughts::::
I believe that many people are so used to hearing "tongues" that they can conjure it from their memory. People are creatures of habit, and as such your mind establishes a set of patterns. What of those that start off "rosa hando lovar eteli leo..." and at the end of their utterance it sounds as gibberish???
and what do we make of those that seem to be repeating the same set of 6 syllables but in a random order?
Okay, I didn't answer the question.. just added more that need to be answered::::::::

Good question. I don't know, but it seems reasonable to assume that tongues could be faked then, too. I don't see how it could be otherwise.

I hate this thread. At church tonight I thought I was about to speak in tongues and then I hear a voice "Is it fake? Is it real? Will some of it be fake and some of it real?"

You tell that voice "shut up devil,in Jesus name", and keep on seeking after God and stay focused on worshipping Him and don't think about speaking in tongues, when the Holy Ghost takes over you WILL speak in tongues and you WILL know it,s real.

It doesn't take an expert to see that sometimes it's fake. If you think it's spiritually healthy to ignore that possibility, whether in others or in yourself, rather than to discern whether it is real or not, then carry on. I would rather know the truth, myself.
The example I gave above came from a pentecostal I was corresponding with. He was describing his own experience in receiving the Holy Spirit. When someone stopped him, was it a devil telling him it wan't real? Kinda backfired, if it was, because this fellow went on the get the "real" thing. Oops!
