No, but I have eaten their food before. A company I was working for ordered from them once. It was pretty good. Owensboro is supposed to be the bar-b-que capital of the world. I am sure some folks from Texas would disagree though. LOL

We met our nephews at the Bar-B-Q festival but left before the action got started it was intoxicating smelling all the Bar-B-Q cooking. I love mutton that is a feature at Owensboro and West Kentucky. I remember when the pastor started the work in Rockport.

My understanding is that it started as an outgrowth from another church in Owensboro, but you know how information gets passed without being verified. We were told this pastor was a control freak and I have found that to be a bold faced lie.

The pastor was a successful evangelist his father-in-law was the District Supt. of Kentucky for years when I was growing up. I am thinking his 5 daughters all married preachers. I personally know 3 of them. Steadfast can correct me. His mother-in-law passed last year.

I don't really know all that much about the pastor, to be honest with you.

They were always kind to me. My wife showed them how to make peanut brittle and we gave them the pans you dip in. Boy they were struggling then I felt sorry for them.

Basically, it was your typical UPC kind of church service. We sang three songs, prayed for prayer requests, (a lady stayed up front praying and the pastor called on the church to come pray with her and we sang some more songs), took up the offering and sang some more songs, the choir sang another song, the pastor's daughter gave a testimony about something the Lord had brought her through and she sang a song, the pastor preached a message about making our needs known unto the Lord, everyone prayed, and then we came home.

I wish he would have had more time, but you know how every service can take on a life of its own and that's kind of what happened. Some unplanned things happened, but they didn't drop some of the planned things to make up for the loss of time.
They sang more of the new stuff than the old stuff, but I can tell the church is very youth oriented, so that accounts for it. I did get to sing some songs I haven't sung in a good long while. I enjoyed that. Plus, it just felt nice to be in a church service.
