Re: Any life coaches on the board??? I need help!

Thanks for these pointers, you guys have given me somewhere to start.

I think just putting it out there that I am not in control of the situation is a good thing for me as well. I have been trying to avoid the issue, maybe by talking about it, I won't be able to ignore it as easily.

Re: Any life coaches on the board??? I need help!

Well, in my recouping time I watched a crazy lady on Oprah last week that had 35 yrs. of hording in her home. It WAS UNREAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! It took a team of 100 people eight weeks to clean out her house.

One tip they gave people was to just take two trash bags a day through the house. One for trash and one for give-a-aways. They said it's a start and will get you motivated to keep going on without overwhelming you.

Don't give something foolish away tho.... if it can bless you tremendously count it as a gift from whoever gave it to you... but as for the rest....give it away..and you'll feel blessed..

imo..
I've been doing this for the last several months. IMO, My husband is the worlds worst packrat. He refused for 18 years to let go of STUFF. That just drove me nuts.

When I finally got him to agree to get rid of some stuff-- For a long time, I was putting stuff on ebay-- and frankly, the majority of it was more hassle than it was worth.

People won't bid on stuff without photos, so the whole photo taking, typing listings, relisting what didn't sell the first time, etc... got the best of me. I gave up listing anything unless I know for a fact it's gonna be an immediate seller.

Occasionally I bring in a load of DVDs or something like that to sell for some quick cash-- but I'd rather donate everything in my house that we don't need or use to a thrift store or someone that needs it than to have to look at it for another day.

There's ALWAYS a box sitting in my home to toss items into that we decide we no longer want. As soon as the box is full, we donate the box and start again.

My house has much less clutter. I'm much happier, and whether hubby is willing to admit it or not, I know he's proud some of that stuff is no longer taking up space.

Now if I could just convince him to let me do the same with the stuff he has packed into his hobby shop where he has moved all the aquariums. (Tamor has seen his shop, and I'm sure she can picture what my house would be like with all those tanks in it... they USED to be in here... Thank God they aren't now!!)
