Maybe I should ask this question. How do these movies and old tv re-runs enhance a Christian walk?

Not trying to be sarcastic or antagonistic, but really would like to know.

Maybe they don't.

So what?

But you never know...maybe they have an Acts 2:38 preaching preterist in the movie. Hey now wouldn't that be neat?
He might even be depicted as being from the same planet as Bro. Benincasa.

Data disks? Saw em on the Enterprize in the 60s when we of the mid 20th century were still using reel-to-reel tapes. Personal communictaions devices? A revelation of that ubiquitous cell phone we all have. Cat scans, MRIs? Yep, the Enterprize had 'em. HD TVs? Sure, couldn't get anymore HD than the main veiwer on the bridge. I read not long ago where scientist had managed to teleport light from one place to another. Why, the Enterprize was teleporting carbon based life forms years ago. Lasers? Nonlethal weapons? Synthetic foods? Wireless communication? Its all there aboard Starfllets finest, the USS Enterprize.

It is said that Star Trek did more to break thru the racial barriers than anything else when, for the first time ever on American television, an interacial kiss was shown. Star Trek taught equality among, not only the races, but bewteen genders, cultures and even between intergalatic species. Okay, that last one is a bit far-fetched, but the point is made.

DNA testing? Yep, Dr. MCoy could distinquish Klingon blood from Romulon blood years before you had ever heard of DNA .

Gene Roddenberry was a visionary and much of what he envisioned is reality today.
But Star Trek being compared to Logans Run? Sorry, but thats like comparing the Andy Griffith Show to Mayberry RFD. There IS no comparison.

Can I get a big Amen from my brother Trekkies? Live long and prosper. Come to think of it.... that famous Vulcan salutation sounds a lot like 3Jo 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

AMEN

I felt the spirit in that post

I hardly would think that would be the case. I was just asking what Star Trek had to do with the Gospel.
Hey, I might invite an unsaved friend to go see it with me. Deepen our friendship a little. He's already opened up somewhat about some things he needs prayer over. The more time spent together as "friends" actually BEING FRIENDS the more likely he is to be open to what I have to tell him about the Lord.

You mean you don't just scream at him, over and over, that he is going to hell till he actually believes you and comes to church?

It's just recreational. Like watching a play in your living room. Just a time to relax and hear a story.

Nope. And I also don't believe in being a friend with the sole mission to convert them. I choose to be a friend and only witness when God moves on me to do so. I'm not a trigger happy witness.

LOL

I've ruined too many good friendships and burned too many bridges that could have been used to eventually reach someone by being a pushy witness in my younger days. Now I just pray that God opens the door and speaks to my heart when the time comes. In the mean time, I try to be the best friend they've got, a Christian friend.
