Re: PEAK attendence (July 22-24)
He's off right now. He is mighty. But he came to serve. He's not judging the world right now. Doesn't mean he's effeminate.

Re: PEAK attendence (July 22-24)
He's not preaching from that angle, he is basically preaching against the mindset that some people have that God is weak and begging people to serve Him. His point is that God's power is not exauhsted, He's still a great and mighty God. And not only that, but He is a God who is not against you,but for you. This theme is common in His preaching.

Re: PEAK attendence (July 22-24)
I do like what He said about if you come here to show off your new suit, you came to the wrong conference.
I haven't gone to camp meeting in 4 years now, becasue it is more of a fashion show and popularity contest than seeking God.

For real, if you can't get a date, find God, or show off your new suit at your local church, you might as well hit PEAK once a year. Anything else would be uncivilized.

Re: PEAK attendence (July 22-24)
Here is a link to some short video from PEAK 09. Must have been taken with a still camera that has video capability as I am sure they would have confiscated one of those evil video cameras!
I was surprised to note a video screen an the front. The picture is too blurry to tell what is on it but I am assuming only the words to songs and perhaps scriptures during the sermons.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I see a parallel here with the Church of Christ holding the position that instrumental music in worship is a sin but using a tuning fork or pitch pipe to find the right key for the choir.
I guess it's alright to sin a little to get started.
Yep, video is a sin but it's okay to sin just a little to make sure everyone knows the words to the songs.

Re: PEAK attendence (July 22-24)
I think it is very well known that highly placed persons in the WPF have no problems with using videos. Check out a church web site or two. I know for a fact that even some of the pastors whose church sites have no videos on them, personally view videos and that their families post videos on their blog sites. I am not accusing them of doing something unscrupulous, for I personally see nothing wrong with video for such purposes.

That is how offering should be. Not necessaily lacking a formal anouncement to take one, but minus the "Billy Mays phase".

What is it with Mark Morgan and people throwing money around? The guy really has a gift. I spent some time with him once; before service, after service, all through the service - for a week.
He had come in from out of town and there's no way that he could have set that up. Next thing I know some woman is dumping the contents of her purse on the altar and a crowd gathers to do the same. And he was just preaching - not even about giving. Took us forever to get all the coins and bills collated, the checks sorted.
I told the elder that I didn't know if we should have this guy come back. Hard to have church when people just start dumping money out in a big ol' pile. Takes a shop vac just to clean it all up.
