"The day of a man's death is better than the day of his birth," your comments notwithstanding, I'm afraid. This is another Scripture that clues us in to a shift in premises that is needed. So this actually answers your question. Yes, I believe that, strictly speaking, a physical death will be followed by a judgement, and either a wonderful eternal fate or a horrible one, ok? However, this characterization is so fraught with literal perspective as to be practically useless. When does eternity start, according to God? will show the improper premise.

Cool. Now that we have that taken care of, why wouldn't it be pretty much the most important aspect of one's faith? One's choice in religion (hoping one got it right), to hope for the wonderful eternal fate? Why grumble about our silly Western ideas and death-centricness? It's infinitely important! (If you believe in a judgment and a wonderful/horrible fate. Which you do. You just said. )

When you start treating everyone like a "playmate," which doesn't mean mindlessly bringing a frisbee to a funeral, your life will change. You get your pick of women, for instance; which I hope isn't read wrong.

Ha, yes, but you insist on taking me literally here; you are still convinced that eternity is a time that begins after your physical death, unlike God.
This is similar to the argument of why I keep pounding on the death-centricity of western christianity; once you grasp it and accept it, which is pretty easy I think, even for the most literal of scholars, you still must realize that it colors the way you interpret every single Biblical principle. Accepting this is just realizing that there even is a..."filter;" you then have to realize the filter's properties, what you have already accepted (which is pretty much all your personal doctrine) through this filter, which must all be...unfiltered.

"So then the traditions of man make void the Word of God."

Do I believe the traditions of man make void the Word of God? The Bible says it, there it is-but no, I do not. See the difference in premises.

No, I do not believe this, even strictly speaking, I couldn't say. While there is surely a sense in which it is true, i believe that this characterization when used as a model is completely skewed.

I am led to say now that I feel that this model is a counterfeit of "in the world, but not of it," and "the kingdom of Heaven beside you," and probably the central problem facing organized religion today, this acceptance of eternal life "someday," in some vague, misty eternity, after you die or get raptured or something, tra-la.
I hereby initiate The Church of the Living I AM,
to inaugurate the last day of eternity, for you, in God's eyes, my brothers-today!
Please send tithes to the next person evincing a need, and refuse to fall asleep tonight until you have rid yourself of the spurious notion that Heaven starts in some vague future eternity; this is to completely misrepresent Christ who plainly said TODAY a couple thousand years ago meaning you have everything you need then, and you got everything you need now and I'd really prefer not to go on scraping (species off the planet) along like this for another couple K years...um, amen! : )
