I believe that we die and go to Heaven if we're saved. As for the unrighteous dead, I believe that they face God's judgment and that typically they go to Hell to await their final judgment and the Lake of Fire. I don't rule out the possibility that some may be cursed to roam the earthly plane. Lastly I don't rule out the possible transmigration of the soul based on some ancient Jewish beliefs on the subject (gilgul).

I believe that there is something that lives on once we die. When my mother died, the very next day she visited us before going to Heaven. Some things are just known through experience.

I think that the afterlife is very complicated and that there is much about it that we don't understand... and just wont understand until the we enter eternity.

I believe when we die - as others have said - that our spirit goes back to God who gave it. Which only makes sense really. He gave it. He takes it back - however He does it.

The details don't really matter a lot to me as long as I know I'm spending eternity with Him.
