You'd think, huh?

However it IS Admin's responsibility to maintain this forum and that includes monitoring posts. From what I understand, they do that by dividing the responsibility between themselves.

It's a good thing that they do monitor. But they choose to let some things go that they themselves may even find questionable and wait for a post to be reported by a poster. Then they decide whether or not to act on the complaint.

It's not an easy job. I sure wouldn't want it.

Me either!

I do think the admins do a fantastic job, and this thread is in no way to belittle what they do. Their job is a thankless one, that's for sure.

I myself was not referring to the "monitoring" of posts or any deletions as a result of that monitoring. Thats just a given.

I'm not referring to the reporting of a post by a poster and any action following.

I'm specifically speaking of one's own posts/threads and the author's requested deletion of such after one is unable to delete it on their own and after one realizes they are going to get in trouble over it or someone else could get in trouble over it or the discussion has turned in an undesirable direction.

I'm not saying the deletion is a bad idea. I'm saying damages are already done that need to be addressed. Simple deletion does not address the damages.

This is a personal accountability discussion. Not a discussion of Admin actions.

if people are going to say something, even if it could get someone else in trouble, then their words should stand....and they reap the consequences of opening their mouth...and the other party for doing or saying whatever was reported...

I am not aware that this is being done. Has it been done in the past, perhaps, but it's usually not JUST because the poster changed their mind, but because someone else could be affected by their poor choice of words. The poster is on their own and should be held accountable for their words.

That is to be handled at the discretion of admin and not questioned. We have a team of admin just for this purpose and we are accountable to each other.

This started out as a direct question to admin as HO even stated that it was one admin's decision, etc. and I posted that that is the reason we have an admin area to discuss - that way one admin isn't working alone.
