I guess that being in "ministry" I understand and have some sympathy in regard to what the pastor or worship leader or whoever is doing when they ask people to worship, to move out, to stand, to clap, etc. It's meant as 'encouragement' for people to go beyond themselves and to put forth a little effort so they can receive what they need from God.
There are a lot of people who are content to just sit and not get involved in worship. I'm not saying that those people can't receive from the Lord, but there is value in giving of ourselves in worship and praise. That usually involves some action on our part.

I've been there too and agree.
However, I have been in services too that gauge your spirituality on how much you shout. Wrong.

Good! That brings me to another point. I was speaking to someone about something God showed me once. We had a dog named Zachary. A very spirited dog.
I don't remember what it was doing, but I called it - "ZACHARY!!!!!" He put his tail between his legs and walked away.
I then tried another approach -- "Zachary." Very sweet - believe that cneasttx! lol
He came right up to me. The Lord showed me that people respond in that same manner. Lessons, lessons.....
So, I told this person that God has never, even when I have been in the wrong, spoke to be in anger during correction.
The person said, "Well, He has to me."
I thought, "Wow, I just can't conceive that."
I just can't imagine why God would do that.
So you changed your tone and encouraged Zachary to come to you? More bees with honey I always say. It works with people too. There is such a thing as gentle nudging and pushing.
God has spoken to me differntly at different times.
One time just recently I was pricked immediately in my heart over something... immediately a strong rebuke. And other times the small voice nudging me.
People can do the same with their sons, daughters, youth. You have to pray and get a feel for how to approach people on things. Everyone and every circumstance may be different.

Yes, and this brings to mind when John made the observation, "...he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove......" Matthew 3:16
This was the most gentle of creatures. They kept them in cages for the serenity these lovely birds brought to the home and atmosphere.
Whatever they saw and whatever they felt coming from Jesus was something akin to the gentle nature of the dove.
That is how He has always presented Himself to me.
It's much like the man in a woman's life. She will respond to you when she knows, without a doubt, you have her best interest at heart.
