Why's that? Don't we make it a normal practice to watch or listen to sermons that we're discussing?

it was online this sun. am. We have been doing live webcasts sometimes because we just don't know where to go to church and are seeking God on that (where does everyone else go or do you not talk about that here?)
They are on itunes but it isn't updated...
and we really can't single this church out, alot of them are like this and I do not believe it is intentional... it just happens to be the style that often comes across...

We all know what he's talking about. These "Which church? Which pastor? Which sermon? Let's hear it" demands are unneccesary to have a conversation about it.
Anytime a church or pastor is being publicly singled out (needlessly) and we can avoid it, I'd prefer the "avoid" option. Just so we can all verify if our posting brother is "honest" and able to discern what he heard.

corvet, I suggest assuming the best about Pastor Carpenter, the same way Maximillian wanted me to assume the best about what he said.
I seriously doubt if Pastor Carpenter doesn't want the people under his care to not "enjoy life", and I seriously doubt if his goal is for them to feel discouraged or condemned.
Just because someone says something that sounds bad or even upsetting doesn't mean they MEANT it that way. If you enjoy his messages on a regular basis, then I think it's fair to assume that a small aberration is not indicative of his overall mindset.
e.g., we need to cut preachers some slack. I realize there are those who abuse their authority, but I don't think that's the majority, and even those who might say something that comes across badly--it doesn't mean that was their INTENT.
Personally, I suggest emailing Pastor Carpenter, and discussing it with him.

Corvet just phoned me and feels bad if he shouldn't have wrote the church. there are messages we did like... why we viewed them. We just want help, like are we taking it the wrong way? We don't want to feel terrible after we hear messages. yikes. we want to be rebuked but uplifted also... And I told him about Charles Stanley because I like him and he tells it like it is but with such love and gentleness...

I don't go anywhere. But if it's the same maryville church im thinking of then i've seen their christian schools basketball team play before.
