We did a whole session just on Luther's mental condition called "anfectungen" and how that moved him towards the liberating gospel of salvation by faith and not by works.

I have seen so many lies posted. The best one is the one Triumphant 1 did his best to combat. You know, the hair cutting party thing?
Prominent members of this board chose to believe the lie and even continue to spread it, even though T1 had totally proved it was false.

Very cool. Had a good undergrad class on Church History... great textbook too... but certainly never spent an entire class session on Luther's mental condition. I was aware that he beat himself, was anxious, having nervous breakdowns, etc...
I thought the movie Luther was done quite well too.

Lead does not mean Lord.
To minister means to serve.
"Unquestioned"? All things must be evaluated in light of scripture.
However I believe the assembly should follow their pastor including "standards" unless it can be shown to be totally and unequivocally unjustified by scriptures.

If concerned, they should find a group that flies the Oneness Pentecostal exclusionary flag. Because the last time I looked, Global does not and doesn't pretend to. There are both Oneness and Trinitarians in Global and both Oneness and Trinitarians are asked to speak at the meetings. If that bothers someone, they should look somewhere else. It really is that simple in my opinion.
Sometimes people act like there is some kind of oneness/trinitarian conspiracy in Global. Well, there's not. I have yet to see anyone fight over these issues at a global meeting. It obviously doesn't affect who preaches or who is licensed................

His condition was an extreme fear of the wrath of God and his inability to satisfy it! He tried for decades to "work" his way into God's mercy and favor...it was very dark where he was convinced he could not be saved because of his sinful nature! It is mind blowing the liberation that came to him when he recognized that we cannot work our way into God's favor and how it started the reformation!

Some on here are giving Global a bad name. It may not be what you're looking for, but if you're looking then the other group must not have been what you were looking for either.
If you knew me you would you know I know what I'm talking about. Was there at the beginning. Don't agree with everything but have never found any group, if it consisted of more than me, that I agreed with on everything.
If you haven't tried out either of the groups, Global or ACN, you really owe it to yourself to check them out before you put them down. It's not like the mafia, if you don't like it you can get out! You don't have to get a tattoo to get in! lol

NO NO NO! triumphant1 I wasn't talking about you. I'm sorry I should not have tagged your post. I should have tagged some of those who seemed to not know what they were talking about. I agree with you. Scott and Brett are friends of mine as well. Their dad was a prince of a man. I think Scott is doing a great job. Global seems to be moving forward better than it has since.... well since it wasn't moving forward, if you know what I mean.
I'm not active right now but for my own reason! Have no stones to throw! Would encourage any of those who are "looking" to get to know Scott. I think they would be impressed when they get to know him.
Again, sorry that I made it look like I was referring to you. God speed!
Edit: triumphant1 I just looked back at my post and my choice of you and yours certainly made it look like I was talking to you. I should have said them instead of you and yours. Sorry again. Hope everyone that read the earlier post will read this one.

Re: Their loss is Globals gain (maybe)
Whoever all these people are who are hanging in the balances, I wish someone would give me their names. We are looking for a young staff pastor from our background - a good preacher, but one who can take on other duties also. Send them our way!!!
