According to the most recent noise ordinance on the city of Columbia's website it says "It shall be unlawful for any person to play any radio, musical instrument in such a manner or with such volume particularly between 10 P.M. and 7 A.M. as to annoy or disturb the quiet."
So at 7:01 AM until 10:00 PM they can be loud? Maybe they do have a case after all.

Cindy, i just have a feeling that the city will be counseled to not pursue this to the nth degree, they will spend too much money and probably lose.

We have churches that, 30 years ago, they bought land way outside town for privacy and price. Now urban sprawl has spread out the boundaries of the cities and the churches are now in the residential areas.
This is not the churches fault but is the result of growing populations.

I don't see what the fuss is all about if this is an occasional happening. If, however, this is something that goes on everynight past 10:00p.m. - then I suppose I could see some sort of warning...but nothing serious.
They may be in a revival...in that case not surprising to be out late praising God and praying fervently.

Randy, I have a friend who will not attend a church that plays the drums during the music.
She says that drums are not in the Bible. She also says that a missionary stated that the natives said the beat of the drums is what they used to call up the evil spirits.
I can't help but wonder if this is correct or not....
