Obama Supports Global Poverty Tax

Barack Obama introduced a bill to tax U.S. citizens in order to relieve global poverty. The last step before world gov't. Can you feel the love?

Re: Obama Supports Global Poverty Tax

Well it seems like the article you've posted is asserting that it is NOT a global tax, but only a bill expressing America's commitment to help reduce global poverty:
In fact, the Global Poverty Act would proclaim that "[i]t is the policy of the United States to promote the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day." But the bill would not "require America to pay tax to the U.N.," as O'Donnell claimed. As Media Matters documented, the bill would establish no specific funding source; it would not commit the United States to any targeted level of spending.

The article says that Obama did introduce the global poverty act which is a tax to relieve poverty just not payable to the UN.

Re: Obama Supports Global Poverty Tax

A nice-sounding bill called the "Global Poverty Act," sponsored by Democratic presidential candidate and Senator Barack Obama, is up for a Senate vote on Thursday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. The bill, which has the support of many liberal religious groups, makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations.
Senator Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has not endorsed either Senator Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in the presidential race. But on Thursday, February 14, he is trying to rush Obama's "Global Poverty Act" (S.2433) through his committee. The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends.

Unfortunately, we can expect to see much worse than this during an Obama presidency.

As if the US tax payers....ie NOT those with a LOT of money...are not burdened enough already. And yet more and more Democrats are moving from Clinton's camp to his. I said it already, Obama is way way to liberal

Re: Obama Supports Global Poverty Tax

BTW it was discovered recently that when the UN asked for MORE money to help nations with spireling food prices that they actually had a huge surplus of money that was well beyond what THEY reported
