Apostolic pastor of a Methodist church
Ref this article from the Apostolic Report
http://theapostolicreport.wordpress....dist-churches/
It tells about an Apostolic minister who has agreed to pastor some Methodist churches.
Could you do that?
How would you do that?
Do you consider some of these church members saved or are they all headed for hell as fast as a ball bearing on a greased board?
What would you do if/when someone asked you to "baptize" a baby?

Re: Apostolic pastor of a Methodist church
Sam,
what is even more shocking, the Methodist now endorse the gay lifestyle.
our church is right down the street from one of the methodist churches and they openly state that they are GLBT friendly. in fact, they let these groups have their meetings @ this church. they also let it be known that when/if CA. passes the gay marriage, they plan to perform them

Re: Apostolic pastor of a Methodist church
I believe Bro Walters has been given leeway to preach to them without reserve.

Mark
I was unaware that the Methodist church was so supportive of homosexuals. That particular church does not seem to be anything like its founder.

No real problem exists over the use of "The Name" in everthing else done in the Church. Why then should there exist great controversy over the use of the "The Name of the Godhead" in water baptism?

Re: Apostolic pastor of a Methodist church
Elder Walters has had this door open to him he is not going to compromise his message or principles to do this. Let's pray all these Methodists get filled with the Holy Ghost and are baptized in Jesus Name. What an opportunity.

Amen - what an opportunity! Jesus is the one who opens the door that no man can shut. I pray also that those Methodists get filled with the Holy Ghost and are baptized in Jesus name.

Methodists are pretty diverse.
There are conservatives and liberals among them also.
There is a large church near here, the Sharonville United Methodist Church, whose pastor has been quite conservative on issues like homosxuality, abortion, and pornography. I also know a young United Methodist pastor who is currently pastoring two small UMC churches in Columbus, OH who is conservative that way. And, I remember a nearby UMC which fired a youth pastor because she did not believe that a person had to have a personal salvation experience. The headquarters folks and the seminary folks can be pretty liberal but that doesn't reflect all the local churches and pastors.

Re: Apostolic pastor of a Methodist church
Let me share a "insiders" perspective. I am Bro. Walters grandson. He was asked to pastor these churches (actually recommended by one of the members). The district sup asked him to take the churches. The churches are very excited about him being the pastor.
The issue of infant baptism came up and he stated that he could not do that. They did not have a problem with that, they will bring someone else in to take care of that.
Thad....these are North Dakota Methodists...probably not as supportive of the whole homosexual deal. Also Bro. Walters is not a "hardliner, far far right"
