Newest Mission Project - L & T Belize
I'm so excited about our newest missions project. We just closed on property in Belize (50 acres), but we still have to pay the second half of it to pay it off. We always do a Passover offering for Missions on Good Friday, so this year it's going to Belize and hopefully we will be able to fininsh paying for the property and start construction.
We are building a youth camp and originally the plan was to also build an orphanage. But the government has told us that their primary need right now is for transitional homes for those coming out of foster care at age 18. So we will be constructing homes that will house 8 each plus a caregiver. We will be training them in computers, sewing, carpentry, etc. The land also has 400 coconut trees, and mango, cashew, papaya, and many more. Those will be used for cash crops, and tended by the young people living there.
We will do camps each year, and also rent the campground out to other organizations. The A/G has already told us that they want to use it 3-4 weeks each summer, as they don't have property there, but do have a resident missionary.
As Missions Director, I am itching to get down there and see the land!! Two of our men just went last week - the one who will oversee the project and one who runs electrical lines. He has gotten all the wiring and labor donated to run the lines back to the land. Everyone says Belize is BEAUTIFUL and the people are wonderful. I want to go see for myself!!!

Amazing Sherri !!
Pastors Andrew Willis and Pete Spardella from River of Life in Houston are actually in Belmopan Belize today preaching at the YWAM International Youth Conference and were given interviews on a national TV broadcast last night!
They also confirm what you say about the country and people, I might need to make the next mission trip myself. :-)

I would love to visit there - or you guys could get a layover to Guatemala City
Seriously, I will be driving up that way in June, it would be great to be able to see it if you have specific location information.
