Leaving for Kenya

I leave for Kenya on Sunday, along with ten other people from my church. It will be the first group trip that I've led without Eddie going, so please pray for us. It's stressful budgeting all the meals and hotels and making sure that everything is accounted for and that we have enough money. I have packed a lot of first aid stuff and emergency rations (PB & J), and am taking over two computers - one for our driver and one for the UPC missionaries in Kenya who had it sent to my house.

We are also taking some meds and pecans (woohoo!) to the missionaries since they can't get them over there. And we are buying keyboards and guitars for about ten pastors while we're there. We are giving out school supplies and medical supplies, as well as preaching in about 11 churches and 5 schools.

I'm so excited I can hardly sleep! Some of my team have never been out of the country before, so this will be a shock to their system.

It's this Sunday too!! What a crazy weekend - and now a funeral besides.

The mission team has to leave after the 9 AM service, because Delta changed our tickets and we can't do anything about it. We have Friday night and Saturday morning services, and dinners with all pastors present. Then the actual dedication services are Sunday at 9 & 11. So we will just miss the last one, but it still makes me feel really bad.

Are you a missionary? I admire that greatly. I am studying with much prayer and fasting to become one. I hope your trip is mightily blessed and used by the will of God. The Lord sustain you all

No, just a missionary wanna-be. LOL! I am a pastor's wife in Tennessee. Sister Alvear is our resident missionary. I just love missions work and love to travel all over the world. Different cultures and languages fascinate me.

Uhuru is Swahili for "Freedom", which they gained in 1963. They are well known for their coffee and tea plantations. I've stayed on one of the tea plantations before - it's gorgeous.
