Interesting Quote From Mickey Mangun ...
... concerning GA Mangun.
"I've always appreciated the way he viewed women. He viewed them as being strong and capable and very able to accomplish and use their abilities. That probably wasn't really popular back then. He gave his wife room and a very significant place to be all that God intended her to be and to be all that she wanted to be. I think that is so commendable of any gentleman, and he brought out the very best in her by giving her all the water she needed to swim in."
I was about to say that in oneness "ole time pentecost," GA Mangun was ahead of his time.
But looking at some recent responses to women being used in leadership other than "Ladies Auxilliary" in the UPC ...
Heck, "his time" probably hasn't gotten here yet.

So true, Tim...
As an observer, it would seem he was strong enough in who he was to not limit who she was and is.

Thetus Tenney ran the World Network of Prayer. I was suprised the org allowed a woman to head that up. She did a great job at the helm.

A man is leading it now. I quietly removed myself off their mailing list after 6 months of "male" leadership.

Pentecostalism was always pro-women in ministry. Nothing new.
I've been intrigued lately with the egalitarian vs. complimentarian debates though. I think they are good. Piper/Driscoll make good points on this issue -- and they certainly aren't "stuck in time."

I don't think it's ever an issue of "men can do better." I really don't. I'm sure there are bigots who agree with complimentarian leadership for their own sinful reasons, but that's certainly not the motive behind all who theologically fall on that side.
