Funny Thought On The Way Home From Church Today
Today was incredible. We did a song to open the day that was unreal. It's an old Hillsong song, "Salvation Is Here."
It's not enough to say it was "Unreal." It was explosive. It was so explosive that we cancelled the second song of the set and just did the song again.
"For I know my God saved the day
And I know His Word never fails
And I know my God made a way for me
It's gonna be alright."
Oh my goodness. Explosive.
So anyway, on my way home I had this funny thought.
I've been involved in a few spats this week here in the forum. And really, they're all kinda silly. I've posted a few opinions about the mosque, and had my Christianity questioned. I posted that I haven't spoken in tongues and was told I'm not born again. Just a few minutes ago I was told I'm making false accusations and I have no idea what that one is about. I was told by a friend that my kind of church doesn't teach repentance, doesn't teach the bible, and doesn't ask for commitment.
So I was driving home, thinking about all I've heard this week, all the angry words that fly around on the forum and and then thought about the Church Gathering experience I'd just had.
It was just a funny moment. I'm sure glad I have amazing church experiences once a week. Without it, I don't think I could survive some of you Christians!

Someone said that the Church is the only army that buries its wounded.
Someone else said that most of the Church's spiritual warfare is just a circular firing squad.

You realize, don't you Mr. Smith, that some Christians would say:
that anyone who would sing a Hillsong song is not a REAL Christian
and
that anyone who goes to church just once a week is not a REAL Christian

This is an "older" song about salvation being brought
We actually used to sing this as a congregational song

This is great, really it is. This seems more like what I thought Mr. Smith was/is about. I'm glad to hear this good report.
I guess my point of confusion is that all week you've argued in favor of secular music in worship, in favor of muslim rights to build and spread their paganism, and against the creation account in the Word of God.
I think sometimes your giving out mixed signals here on AFF, just sayin'

I didn't read the posts about "secular music" in worship but the church has taken "secular music" over the years and used it, some times rewriting the words
I don't like the idea of the mosque being built where they want it in NYC. I personally think it is an "in your face" monument to a Muslim victory, but it is my understanding that they have a constitutional right to build it there as long as it conforms to local building codes and zoning restrictions.
As far as creation, I believe God is the Creator or First Cause but many Christians have problems and questions with "science and the Bible" and have tried to weave the two together and have come up with various conclusions.

Sam,
We also sang this song as a congregational song when I was growing
up! Been a while. Great old song!

Not to rain on your parade Sam, but isn't it, "The Christian army is the only army that shoots their wounded?" Maybe I've had it wrong all these years. "Bury them" works too. I guess that would mean we bury them alive, huh?
