Please Help With Osiris, Isis, Horus
Could someone who may know a little help me with the following question I was asked. How would you answer it?
How do you reconcile all the similar features that other religions through out history have with that of Christianity? I only ask because I have many conundrums about religion that have troubled me since I was a child.
So, you will do me a great service by addressing some of the following historical facts:
similarities are;
1. belief in life after death
2. punishment for sins
3. stories of a great flood before the time of moses
4. the supernatural conception and the virgin birth of Heru (Horus)
5.An Ancient Egyptian festival celebrating the birth of Heru (Horus), was held on 25 December, and it resembles the Christian festival of Christmas
6.Both Ausar and Jesus were shortly resurrected after their deaths. Reassuming earthly form, they demonstratively affirmed proper conduct and its other-worldly rewards, after which time they returned to heaven, having “saved the world”.
7. both became the savior to whom men and women turned, for assurance of immortality
8. egyptians worshipped one main supreme being who judged the dead
9. egyptians had a set of religious laws very familiar with the ten commandments
10. Horus was taken from the desert of Amenta up a high mountain to be tempted by his arch-rival Set.
11.Jesus was known as the Christ (which means “anointed one”),Horus is known as KRST, the anointed one.
12.Jesus was the “only begotten son” of the god Yahweh,Horus was the “only begotten son” of the god Osiris.
13.The foster father of Jesus was Joseph, the foster father of Horus was Jo-Seph
14.The birth of Jesus was heralded by a star in the East (where the Sun rises in the morning),The birth of Horus was heralded by the star Sirius (the morning star)
15.After the birth of Jesus, Herod tried to have him murdered,After the birth of Horus, Herut tried to have him murdered
It goes on and on but these are just a few examples, here is one last similarity
Probably the most obvious is the story of Osiris, Isis, Horus and Set, or at least their final positions, along with some of the surrounding icons. I will not repeat the story itself, but in the end, Osiris becomes the god of the heavens while Set is outcast as the evil lord of the underworld. Isis is the mother of Horus, who in tern becomes a living god in the form of the pharaoh. The associations of Osiris and the Christian supreme being, Isis as the Mother Mary Horus as Jesus and Set as the devil are obvious, and ancient icons depict Isis suckling Horus almost exactly as Mary would later be shown suckling the baby Jesus.

And actually there are about 10 or more other religions through out recorded history that espouse the same or very similar features as Judaism, Christianity, Islam that predate these monotheistic faiths.
