UPC Response to MS Bill HB1523
Click the link to read the full statement. Here's a quote I thought may stir some debate and generate some interesting comments on FB.
"""We also want to express that we unconditionally love all people, recognize universal equality under the law, and support civil rights for all, including individuals who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender."""
I agree with the statement, but I know some conservative UPCers who won't agree and will not like that statement.

I've seen a noted increase in official statements from the UPC regarding current laws or political issues.
Not sure it's good or bad. The UPC is definitely more vocal on issues now than under previous Superintendents.

Re: UPC Response to MS Bill HB1523
Here is what I found interesting:
"Some of our members may exercise the freedom guaranteed by HB 1523 and similar legislation not to support certain marriages based on their religious convictions and the teaching of Scripture."
Some of our members?
Does that mean that some others do support those marriages?

"Some members", probably means those whose occupation would put them in the position which would compromise their convictions. Others would not be faced with the same predicament.

You mean ordained ministers? I thought that's all the UPC was, a fellowship of licensees?

Right! The members are the licensed ministers and those who attend the churches are the constituents.

Re: UPC Response to MS Bill HB1523
Wow the UPC loves gay people.
But AOG, Baptist, Lutherens and Catholics will burn in Hell for all eternity for not agreeing with the UPC 100% of the time on all issues.
Love needs to be lived!
I think that many people in the UPC DON'T love gay people. That is my opinion from years of attending their churches.
I think that many people in the UPC Don't love AOG, Baptist, Lutherens and Catholics. That is also my opinion from what I have heard utter joy from the pulpit that the lost will burn for all eternity.
I also believe that homosexuality is a sin. That sex is reserved for one man and one woman. But I have seen very few Christians act like they love Gay people. Usually Christians are very mean and hateful to them. Never have I seen someone spread the gospel message to them.
