As Sen. John McCain assumes the front-runner mantle, his long-standing, but little-noticed association with left-wing donors such as George Soros and Teresa Heinz Kerry is receiving new attention among his Republican critics.

In 2001, McCain founded the Alexandria, Va.-based Reform Institute (http://www.reforminstitute.org/) as a vehicle to receive funding from George Soros' Open Society Institute and Teresa Heinz Kerry's Tides Foundation and several other prominent non-profit organizations.

McCain used the institute to promote his political agenda and provide compensation to key campaign operatives between elections.

WOW, spoken like a true liberal reporter...lol....

You missed the mark on this. If you go to your link, then go to the link that it uses for a source, then go to the link that source used for a source, *sigh* anyway, bottom line, this is a good example of tell someone something and by the time it gets back to you it is unrecognizable from your original statement.

Let me break this one down for you, so everyone will be HONESTLY informed

No proof of this what so ever. Once you get past the first two opinionated blog links, the actual newspaper that broke the story in 2005 makes no comment to the sort.

Whats this ,? No mention of the fact McCain is only co-founder? what about the fact that Senator Bob Kerrey (D-NE) was the other co-founder. What about the fact that the governing board of this Institute is made up of Dems. and Rep. alike? What about the fact that the Institute as a whole has studied and supports several issues both liberal and conservative? So then could it be said that the money coming from Soros' and Kerry are also funding the liberal issues that they are intrested in? Or will it be said that the Dem. senators recieving funds from this org. are being supported by the conservative donors?

McCain used the institute to promote his political agenda and provide compensation to key campaign operatives between elections.

And the other members of the board used the org. to promote their political agenda's. It's a bipartisan think tank. And as far as "compensation to key campaign operatives" (I like how the word "operatives" is used in articles like this, like they are some kind of covert evil spies) so what if the guy works there when not in a campaign. Do other campaign managers draw unemployment between elections?

This is way beneath you brother, We normally don't agree but your facts are usually undisputable. This is just typical liberal spin on a story that is 4 years old.

Very cool, Scotty. My instincts were already feeling this was how it would pan out before I checked into the link. I'll look over it later, for myself, though.

No biggie.

It is typical for such people as Bill Gates, Geo Soros and those of their ilk to fund both sides of the race. Warren Buffet, is an outstanding example of that. It happens all the time.

This is often done by those who anticipate SOMEONE is going to be elected and hope that their contribution will buy some influence needed later on.

Buffett maybe. Soros is to America what Satan is to the soul of man.

I suspect that McCain did help found the foundation/think tank in question. I also suspct that Soros gave money to the think tank.

As Scotty points out, both Dems and GOPers are involved in this effort.

Now, if McCain accepted money from Soros in this election cycle, for the express purpose of funding his run for the whitehouse, that would be entirely different.

the first just proves the point we already know. McCain is more willing to dance with the democrats that us Conservitives.

the later would be heracy.

from the looks of it , he may accept money from the institute itself, of which Soros' happens to be one of the donors. But not directly from Soros'...Like you I would have a problem with that.
