I heard a political commentator mention the term, "Walmart Moms".

These are middle class white women that are mostly non college educated. These moms are generally God fearing. They have been effected by the slow economy and high gas prices.

Whichever party can win the majority of this segment of our population will win the election.

To win this groups vote, candidates must successfully address economic and energy issues that effect their every day lives.

Look for this part of the debate to take center stage soon!

Quite true.
People have said Democrat women would never vote for Palin because she is a pro-life conservative, unlike Hillary and Obama.

They forget that many "Walmart moms" are not as passionate about the pro-choice issue as many in the Democratic rank and file. Besides, a lot of it comes down to identifying with a candidate. There are a lot of Walmart moms who can identify in some way with this 44 year old mom of 5, with a son in the military, a child with special needs, an unexpected addition to the family via her 17 year old daughter, who juggles a successful career and family at the same time. I think a lot of Democrats underestimated her at first, and are only now beginning to take her seriously.

Not to mention the Hillary supporters. Most of them will vote Obama of course, but if Palin peels off even 10-15% of the 18 million voters who backed Hillary Clinton during the primaries, that could give McCain enough of an edge to win certain key swing states, like PA/MI/OH. If McCain picks up a couple of those key swing states, this election is over, and Big Mac takes it.

I probably fit this catagory. :D

As a mom who is being affected by the slow economy/high gas prices, I recently entered the work force after 17 years of being a 'stay-at-home' mom. Mostly because of high food costs, and it was costing my husband over $200 a month in gas alone for his commute to work...which is at HP...which is a bit unstable right now since they started laying off many workers in our two Oregon/Washington sites. They even closed the site's cafeteria.

I want to hear what our new President is going to do for our economy,and to keep our jobs from going overseas. And what he's going to do to bring about a change in our energy/gas problems.
