Do's and Don'ts

There are do's and don'ts for handling demon attacks.
Don't be afraid. Those who can be frightened have already lost.
Don't react. Those who react with self-righteousness or anger have already lost.
Resist. Don't submit to the demon's demands. Don't negotiate.
Don't attack. Demon warfare must be defensive. "The battle is the LORD's!"
Don't believe the demon's lies.
Don't take the bait.
Don't talk to the demon, except in some rare cases. Don't order him around. Don't lecture him.
Don't fall under the demon's spell. Wiggle or squirm to break the demon's power.
Do turn to God immediately.
Do reflect on the scene in light of God's Sovereign Design.
Recall the promises of scripture.
Don't assume there is only one demon involved. There may be many hidden behind the first one.
Don't feed the demon's ego. He wants attention. Taking pictures or talking about him only emboldens him.
From a practical standpoint, turning on a night light will weaken the demon so that he is harmless and it will be possible to get some sleep. Demons hate the light, even though some do attack in daylight.
The procedure for handling a demon attack is not designed to remove the demon. Following the procedure precisely will not necessarily remove the demon. The procedure is the Grace approach for dealing with the problem. The demon is not the problem. The demon is punishment for the weak person. Withstanding the demon attack and learning from it will enable the Christian to mature and overcome the problem. This is not a short term fix, but a long-term solution.

Dream Attacks...

hmm, this guy seems to refute "a house divided"
above this, I have a query in about that, but-thoughts?

Don't attack?

Sounds like the guy has never really worked in deliverance!

When a spirit manifests it is attack time.

Well, he doesn't say "don't act."
I've actually never had any of these
demonic images, at least not since pretty young.

What you copied and pasted is false teaching.

ha I love the inferred accusation in
"copy/paste."

I admit that this is not my favorite work of his,
but why do you say this?

It's in there.

The writer says:

The pentecostal apostates who claim to have the power to cast out demons today are not only confused. They are under Satan's power themselves. They are not Grace oriented. The power to cast out demons was a temporary gift that was given to some disciples and apostles of Christ before the completion of the canon of scripture. Those who plead the blood are sadly confused. There is no power in the literal blood of Christ. He did not bleed to death on the Cross. The "Blood of Christ" is a metaphor for His substitutionary spiritual death for the sins of the world. Prayer will not work. It didn't work for Paul. The "anointing with oil" recommended by James (James 5:14) was part of a Jewish exorcism procedure used during the precanon period. It is no longer applicable in the Church Age.

He obviously rejects Christs teaching in Mark 16 that casting out demons is a sign that follows believers. And he does away with James teaching about healing as if an apostles word means nothing.

He is clearly one of the so called "grace" teachers who feel the book of Acts is NOT relevant to the New Testament Church.

Its clear he is inventing whole portions of doctrine. He spends about 20 times more words than the Bible does on the subject so its obvious hes making a bunch of it up, probably inspired by satan.

Ya I thought that was weird, too-
-but I've read it from other authors,
the point being to show any kind of
resistance, it like focuses your mind there,
rather than considering the spirit in any way.

MTD, I've never heard of a "Grace" preacher, specifically?
I'll admit that this is prolly my least favorite of his;
but I've read others who say the same thing.
I'm shooting him your comments, along with my
objections about demons casting out demons,
a house divided--we'll see.

Frankly, he has been very humble in our communications,
and I will look for any change there--don't really even care
so much about his actual replies, although I'll prolly never
believe exactly like this.

Ya, I've read; but no experience with possession, which I think is more common than we believe, nothing like "The Exorcist."
Would you say MTD's post is a good summation? I'm emailing him later.
I mean, shredding I don't mind, none of us is 100% right--and again, this is my least fave of his stuff, prolly I should just ignore it.

But hey, whatever works, right? Right? :lolLol; ok, I've never seen "wiggle and squirm," but thrashing, even shaking your head "no," all just ways to show "resistance." I must admit to some ulterior motive here; I could really care less about the doctrine.

Actually, if you'll allow that we all have a "heel,"
I think maybe I've just found his. I'm a pro at this,
like most Pentecostals, but recognize that all of our
doctrines, yours, mine, and his, will one day suck wind.

I will say that this piece is a departure for him,
the Pentecostal attack, etc. is not very typical.
We'll see what, if anything, he answers to MTD's post.

:ursofunnyHmm, I might laugh with you,
but I am on to this due to a friend's child's sleeplessness
issues, can't close their eyes w/o seeing demons, I guess;
and a night light is helping? I have zero experience here, so...

halt by making fun of it.

Good grief what's wrong on this forum?Well, it doesn't have to come to a halt. While I personally am seriously out of my depth here, and frankly doubt that these little night interludes even describe current-day demon possession, I have no proof of this, and would be interested in any first-hand evidence.

My personal belief is that one's wife shrieking in pain
might be demon possession? Maybe even hard to quit habits?
Diabetes, maybe? Don't know.

There is an old book that I think you should try to order that will give you some insight into dealing with demons. It is called Pigs in the Parlor.

If you had a pig in your parlor you wouldn't just sit around and ignore him, you would shew him out the door and off your lawn. What a dirty stinking thing messing up your parlor!

Almighty God gives us the tools to deal with this battle. He tells us to put on the full armor of God. He tells us about the Power in the Name of Jesus Christ. Jesus himself cast out demons and he lives within us so why would we ever tolerate a demon.

I have not seen a demon since a childhood dream or late night hallucination. However, I have been attacked many times. It has nothing to do with being weak. The more good you do and the closer to God you become, the more likely you are to be under attack.

I have had to cast demons off of my property that were transferred by the presence of other people, by the power of Jesus name. I have had to cast demons out of my home that had been transferred by the presence of those same people, by the power of Jesus name. Both followed with a blessing of the property and a blessing of the house in Jesus name and instantly the air and the presence was clear and felt safe again.

I have had to cast demons off me that were trying to plague me with sickness in order to hinder my study and prayer, by the power of Jesus name.

I find no where in the Bible that states that we are to tolerate the devil and let God take care of it. On the contrary, if Satan quivers at the sound of Jesus name, do you think his weaker demons can tolerate a Holy Ghost prayer that casts them into the abyss to return no more? Whatever we bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. Whatever we loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Get the pig out of your parlor, man.

Lets make one thing clear though. Many are too quick to blame demons or the devil for anything that doesn't go their way. If you feel the presence you will certainly know. As for everything else, the Lord does not promise us that we will not have a bumpy road. Sometimes the bumps lead to blessings when we have a right relationship with God.
