i watched the vid... it was pretty rough on the language. sorry.
I work for one of the biggest communications companies in the world. Our CEO has publically stated...repeatedly for the last several years:
Everyone carries 3 things with them at all times. Their keys, their wallet, and their cell phone. I want to get rid of two of those.
And yea, passwords are useless. new technology will go toward biometrics. that by itself removes any anonimity from the individual.

I already have my RFID blocking wallet. My car is key less. And I ain't got no cash. :(

Yes, sorry about the language, I agree and should have mentioned it. However, I thought it was worth sharing because of the content about smart cards and the like.
Why is your CEO saying that? All this tracking seems so oppressive to me. I do not understand the go with the flow thoughts of many people. Even after this Snowden thing....people said "Wow, that's wrong!" but are they doing anything different?

I don't have an RFID blocking wallet. I do know we are tracked whenever we have our cell with us.
I am listening to our CEO right now.
He just held up his cell phone and said the following:
"I am going to walk out of this meeting over to CVS and get my flu shot. I am going to use this to pay for it"
THere is another leg of this called "cloud".
basically you wont keep any information on your own hardware. your devise will be a dumb terminal and all your information will be stored on some big companies servers.
How much more simple to collect, colate, datamine and keep tabs on people when you dont have to worry about access to the information?

I am sure about 47% of the population thinks this is a GREAT idea.

For sure. I just don't see why people aren't alarmed about this enough to at least demand some kind of safeguards.

More like 80% would be my guess. Hope I'm wrong.

oh you can be sure they will be told that it is safe.... and it is too!
it will be far safer with a big company standing guard...
they have far more resources to keep the hackers away.
but safe is in the eye of the beholder isnt it?
safe from a hacker, not safe from the dataminers and the government.

As it was.....so it will be. Do I trust the government? All we have to do is look at history, and know it repeats itself. I don't know what the solution is besides local.....local.....local. We need to localize everything.

i am afraid we are maching toward Gomorah has the saying goes....
i trust the government less than I can throw an aircraft carrier.... but here we are.
science fiction is quickly becoming science fact.
Seems like just another step toward:
Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name

Not good enough, Passwords and SmartCards are not the future.
The future is personal recognition, the building knows who you are and opens the door for you, the car opens when you approach it, the telephone or computer knows who you are, no need for passwords of SmartCards which can be forgotten or lost.

Or maybe just a tiny microchip that your car recognizes your work recognizes and works as a debit credit card.

Every little technological advance in the past 30+ years that could somehow have personal ID implications has been heralded as the "mark of the beast".
So maybe I'm wrong, but I'm rather desensitized to it now. Too much crying wolf. I reckon there could be abuse to this new gimick...but there is potential abuse in everything.

Here is one of my big concerns......we are all getting desensitized. To some extent.....who cares if it is the mark of the beast or not. We need to think about how this can impact us and how it can be abused. If everyone gets desensitized (which I think we largely are), oh, how convenient....

No need for any of that.
The following are already available or in trial testing.
Fingerprint recognition
Facial recognition
Voice recognition
eye retina recognition
saliva recognition
even Body recognition
(everyone has a different body, and everyone moves, and walks differently, a computer body scanner can recognize those difference) Airports are already using a primitive version of the body scanners.

Yeah, but how are people going to get paranoid about any of those being "the mark of the beast"? ;)
I didn't say this was the mark of the beast just that it is bringing us closer to the mark of the beast. Which i think we are very close to seeing take place.

I still contend that the biggest single step taken toward The Mark were those nefarious talking Coke machines from the early 80's!
Oh man, I remember them well! They started appearing just as our church finished watching (for about the 10th time) A Thief in the Night and a Distant Thunder. It was the ultimate sign.
And don't even get me started on the giant mega computer being built in Europe which was nicknamed The Beast (about the same time as the talking Coke machines -coincidence?). Whew!
I think technology has passed the idea of implanted chips. I also think John was writing about the future, looking at a technologically advanced world thru his primitive eyes.
I believe the mark is coming. But I dont think we yet have a clue what it will be. And i believe that it will be so subtle that many will simply miss it.
hand and forehead is interesting. just hold your phone up to your ear and poof. That picture just almost fits a primitive man explaining something he sees about the technologically advanced future.
As I have already said, the CEO of one of the worlds most cutting edge companies has stated that he want to remove your keys and wallet and put all that into your phone. our company also envisions the day when work is done on tablets and not "clunky" computers with all the information stored in our "cloud".
We are also working on and selling home systems that marry traditional security with every aspect of your life. Open your doors from your home, control the AC/heat from your phone, turn on the stove/oven. control the TV. all of it from a divice you hold in your hand and take with you everywhere you go. a divice that you use to buy everything with. No cash. no need for credit cards. in fact, all you have to do is wave it in front of a scanner.
the divice recognizes you and no one else because of bio-feedback. and our company gets all the information.

we are also working on connecting your car. I dont mean just being able to make a phone call from your car.
but... think OnStar type service, plus you can start your car, find out what is wrong with your car, play music, get information, access your calander, make calls, play movies, all of it connected to your phone.
and we arent just doing this for advanced new cars but we are going to do it in retrofit to every single car on the road today.

Arrgh! I hate that thought!
Yesterday, we had an appraiser come out (getting a new roof) and he took a bunch of pictures of the inside of our house. That upset me, because I'm sure they are electronic (digital). (I wasn't here.)

Everything is going digital, but we live in an analog world, there is bound to be a crash.
Reality is analog.
Fantasy is digital.
which means that soon we will live in a fantasy world, where nothing is real.

Before the computer age came everything was measured in analog terms and measurements, the computer was not able to do that, the computer world is digital, therefore everything was converted into digital terms, we have adjusted to the computer world.

Yeah, I got that part but not how you are linking it to fantasy/reality.
Because computers can make any fantasy into a reality.
Just look at the special effects on the movies.
We can control just about everything from across the planet (a coffee pot can be turned on or off, lights can be turned on or off, and even military drones can be controlled from overseas)
a web camera can show what your babysitter is doing with your child, and also some stores are now connecting their security cameras to their Intranets.
Video games are the best demonstration of a fantasy world becoming reality, some people say for hour on second life, apparently their digital life is more interesting than their real life.
