I have one pair that are 4in... other than that I try to stay to the shorter ones... since I am so short already :ursofunny:ursofunny:ursofunny

In other words... I can get away with being 4 or 5 inches taller then the hubby but when we are nearing a foot taller... he has issues LOL

Yes if your hubby has been bad you can whoop him with those shoes.

Daniel posted some personal and supportive comments in response to his sister's post about her move.

Other posters did not appear to understand that Dan was speaking to a family member via the forum and seemed to have taken umbrage at Daniel's tone of familiarity as being somehow smarmy.

They posted some digs that in another context may have been considered playful but in this context appear to have been hurtful.

The ninjas armed themselves with household appliances and commenced slicing and dicing. Carpenter felt his forearm to have been pureed over a misunderstanding and so brought out kitchen appliances to his aid. While he was toasting Dan, Dan himself seems to have realized that the matter was not worth the dust up and so offered to bury the Cuisinart.

Even as Dan was kicking it into the hole in his back yard, Carp's toaster burst into flames startling Dan who went into the garage for an upgrade to lawn and yard equipment. Now, with the combatants ducking behind the pitiful armor of garden wheel barrows revving the engines of their respective leaf blowers, weed eaters and hedge trimmers, the AFF community watches as Thad burns a bag of popcorn initiating another and unrelated war in the kitchen.

I don't have time to read this whole thread but just wanted to let pelathais know that his posting is always appreciated. Such a way with words and inciteful to boot! ;)

For the record; I have got to agree with Sheltiedad about this. I don't have time to figure this all out but I would have expected Carpenter and Dan to be a dynamic duo rather than arch enemies! :pirate

Dearest Rhoni,

About a week ago, after expressing my heartfelt support for a decision my sister and her family have made to relocate .... a certain AFF poster took the opportunity to try to intimidate me by placing my comment under his "microscope".

He was under the false impression that we were not siblings and I was talking off the the top of my head.

In subsequent posts, he stubbornly persisted to malign my intents, character and yes, even, my spirituality.

Here is just one of his zealot kool-aid induced tirades:

After realizing his premise was FLAWED ... and exposing to the reading audience that his attacks on my character were based on his animosity towards me ... he has decided to step up his hate-filled posting ... by issuing a public challenge and threat that he will be a thorn/gnat in my life .....

He apparently is in a tizzy over my postings here at AFF ... he also has blasted me by inferring that I'm backslidden, drippy, corney, pseudo-spiritual, possessed w/ a spirit of condescension, and feigning my support for Darcie, my sister, for personal gain.

Here's the deal ... I have a blackbelt in verbal martial arts and psy-ops specialist...

I don't want to tear a new one on a poster who has seen his best days and wants to face me w/ an under-sized pea shooter.

What do I do? I tried to apologize for offending him in anyway but to no avail ...

I even ignored his flimsy attempt to dictate the terms of engagement ....

But he's leaving me little room here to maneuver ... I can't back down .... even if I try.

Do I give him the ever-loving smackdown ???.... or do I just put him on ignore making him more miserable?.

Signed,

Who's your Daddy?

P.S.

Hello Fight Fans .... this is Howie Cosell on the AFF Sports Network.

This is promising to be an epic, but decisive, battle between the aging, under-sized veteran Carp Magillicutty and the champ, Big Papi Alicea.

We're still in the early rounds .... but the judges' score cards still have the current reigning heavyweight campeon on top.

In round one ...

McGillicutty threw the first glancing blow of the bout below the belt .... stunning our hero, Big Papi; but the Champ showed considerable amount of poise by throwing a skillful flurry of jabs and combinations ....

Carp's trainer, Jekyll, threw a water bottle at BP from the McGillicutty corner... but the BP's inate peripheral vision and dexterity helped him evade the plastic projectile.

A frustrated McGillicutty, then resorted to talking smack, but a thumping left hook landed flush on his temple, quieting him .... BP retorted, "That's my sister, Mick".

.... McGillicutty went flying into the ropes but was able to keep his footing, barely....

In Round 2 ...

Carp ... bucked up and challenged BP by motioning wildly before the bell ... then thowing out a flailing, wristy thread entitled "Let's Bury It" ... The aforementioned thread got little respect w/ an anemic 3 pages, 24 posts and about 500 views ....

A tickled BP smirked and retaliated with a devastating haymaker, last night, in this popular thread. Fight fans rose to their feet .... Right now it appears ... Carp is dazed.

Hey Dan, I thought this hatchet was buried. LOL!

Nah ... still waiting on McGillicutty to be peeled off the canvas ... for round 3.

BP is ready to pounce. Manos de piedra.

If she is your sister and so close to you, why communicate this in the forum? Could it be so that all can see how spiritual you are when it appears her decision could somehow elevate the fact that even though many consider you backslidden, etc., you are indeed spiritually in-tune and thus can prove them wrong?

If this were me and considering that such a decision (as I know for a fact they are!!!) to move churches is so intimate and spiritually difficult, I would abhore the notion of my brother/sister posting something seemingly on my behalf for their own reputational benefit.

In a nutshell, you used your sister's situation in an attempt elevate yourself.

Clueless? I think not.

Just to get this all back into focus - this is what Carp said - - he didn't say you were backslidden. Anyone could conclude this opinion just by the reactions that you get in your posts from the other posters.

Also, Carp did apologize and you both agreed to bury it - - THEN you brought it all back around.

This applies here

Ozymandias

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things.
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away

Percy Bysshe Shelley

Darcie, I did not know you and DA are siblings, and I do apologize if my posts made light of your situation.

What I will not apologize for is commenting on what DAN said but based on his history, his reputation, and his manner of posting in times past. No way.

If you disagree with me, take a few days to read what he has written, and the way he responds to those who disagree with him.

I am not going to analyze whether I am being too rough on someone who has roughness as his modus operandi.

I'll be honest you w/ you Carp ... I really had no idea that you had been harboring ill feelings towards me .... as evident in the postings you've made in this thread. What's confusing is .... I don't ever recall having any antagonistic discussions w/ you in the past ... and I mean that sincerely.

I am well aware of many of my shortcomings ... including my inability, sometimes, to soften my words. [Something I really need to work on.]

Furthermore, we could continue this spat that obviously was founded in a misunderstanding ... but it would not be to any avail.

I am sorry if I have offended you in any way ... and hope we can bury the hatchet.

I meant the words to my sister that you took exception to ... and for that I cannot apologize ... but if there is something that I have done to insult you ... I will try to improve.

Let's bury this,
Dan

There is nothing to bury. This has absolutely nothing to do with your sister. She and I have made peace.

I have nothing against you Daniel, honestly, I don't. In fact, to an extent, I know what it feels like to be you.

I have been reading your stuff for a while, your responses, your comments, etc., and I believe it is difficult for you to be held intellectually accountable because of your bias and yes, spite toward the organization.

You do not argue points of discussion based on the academics and merit of the topic, you haven't to this point taken any other consideration other than your own, and when you reach an intellectual box canyon, you resort to bailing out with either insults, or a pseudo-spiritual high road.

You just pushed the right buttons, broke the camels, back, froze the engine, and I had to respond in kind.

From henceforth on, I challenge you. :D

I think it's plain.

In the least spritual way....

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

Did everyone see the shoes that I decided on for my son's wedding?

I'm certain that it's none of my business, but has your son expressed an opinion about having to wear those shoes in his wedding?

Inciteful, or insightful?

Hmmmmm

I knew I shouldn't post when I am as pressed for time as I have been and this proves it...

I looked at the word when I wrote it and thought something was wrong, but couldn't think it through before I had to be out the door. Thanks for figuring it out for me! INSIGHTFUL was the word I was looking for. ;)

My take: if you bring personal situations to a public forum, things like this are bound to happen, because not everyone knows the details, and everyone has the right (and propensity) to comment, whether they know the whole situation or not.

There is no need for the condescension because Carp didn't know Darcie & DA are siblings! Apart from that small gaffe, I think his comments were okay....provocative, but not terribly rude or out of line, especially considering DA's publicly presented and commonly known philosophies and beliefs.

Personally, I think its kind of silly to have an intimate conversation on a public forum, and then protect one another from commentary like those reading shouldn't have had an opinion. Take it to PM, or let it be public fodder. You can't have it both ways.

In my opinion, Darcie was persnickety in her first little comment to Rico, saying, "Exactly, Rico, you don't know...." (Or it seemed that way to me.) If we don't know...then fill us in? If its private, then keep it that way. Or put a warning at the beginning of the thread to "Read, but Don't Comment Unless You Know All the Details."

DA, you're blunt and rough, so you shouldn't get mad when its returned to you, and Carp didn't attack your sister...he challenged what you posted, therefore you weren't defending her in your posts. (Or, if you were, there was no need for it.)

And are you really going to stick with the idea that you expect folks to tread lightly around your family? Your sister can gain her own respect. It works better that way.

Silliness. :shifty

VERY WELL SAID... THIS COULD APPLY TO SEVERAL DISCUSSIONS.

Just a curious question as I was reading this complaint. And it's nice to see that we have a complaints department to speak about our grievances. And this question is not attacking anyone so please don't get on the defence. This question is for all of us.

If we were in a prison or a concentration camp for the name of Jesus and the Prison officials hated us, the sinners there hated us, who would we turn to make our complaint?

We may answer with, "We are not there, so the question is not valid". If we consider this body a prison which is holding our Spirit man from being completely free and we are being attacked daily by principalities and powers, how do we deal with these devils? Don't we turn to Jesus for our help?

The question is not directed at anyone person, so don't take offence. I know this is a forum and there are rules. The rules for us change when we face difficulty. We turn to the LORD. After all Vengeance is mine saith the LORD I will repay. If our LORD is our avenger, should we leave the matter to Him while praying for our attacker, that God would have mercy on his soul?

No one needs to answer this, I am just exhibiting a thought. Thank you.
