View Full Version : Dear Rhoni: I'm Being Harassed and Bullied by an AFF pos[t]er
Dearest Rhoni,
About a week ago, after expressing my heartfelt support for a decision my sister and her family have made to relocate .... a certain AFF poster took the opportunity to try to intimidate me by placing my comment under his "microscope".
He was under the false impression that we were not siblings and I was talking off the the top of my head.
In subsequent posts, he stubbornly persisted to malign my intents, character and yes, even, my spirituality.
Here is just one of his zealot kool-aid induced tirades:
Listen, I have been around a long long time and it is very convenient for someone to elevate their level of spirituality level to the point it is dripping with convenience.
YOU WON THE LOTTERY??? Hallelujah! I was praying for you that you would!!! Now don't you think I am spiritual....!!
What about all the times they didn't win...where is your elevated level of dripping and muckity muck spirituality now?
I don't know the folks in TN don't know the details of their situation, but I think it is pretty audacious for D.A. to all of the sudden tell these folks that their decision was based on his prayers and furthermore the decision was the right one because he agreed with it.
I just felt...talk about descernment...a spirit of condescension in D.A.'s tone. Like I said, had they decided to go a more conservative UPC or Apostolic route, D.A.'s response wouldn't have been so drippy or corney. Based on his elevated level of Spirituality, he would have probably told them to go and seek the Lord HARDER so they could be lead somewhere other than the UPC/Conservative path.
It has little or nothing to do with what I believe or my convictions, it has to do more with relativistic spiritual condescension, and it turns my stomach regardless of which camp exhibits it.After realizing his premise was FLAWED ... and exposing to the reading audience that his attacks on my character were based on his animosity towards me ... he has decided to step up his hate-filled posting ... by issuing a public challenge and threat that he will be a thorn/gnat in my life .....
You just pushed the right buttons, broke the camels, back, froze the engine, and I had to respond in kind.
From henceforth on, I challenge youHe apparently is in a tizzy over my postings here at AFF ... he also has blasted me by inferring that I'm backslidden, drippy, corney, pseudo-spiritual, possessed w/ a spirit of condescension, and feigning my support for Darcie, my sister, for personal gain.
Here's the deal ... I have a blackbelt in verbal martial arts and psy-ops specialist...
I don't want to tear a new one on a poster who has seen his best days and wants to face me w/ an under-sized pea shooter.
What do I do? I tried to apologize for offending him in anyway but to no avail ...
I even ignored his flimsy attempt to dictate the terms of engagement ....
But he's leaving me little room here to maneuver ... I can't back down .... even if I try.
Do I give him the ever-loving smackdown ???.... or do I just put him on ignore making him more miserable?.
Signed,
Who's your Daddy?
P.S.
This is my house!!!

Dan,
Though Rhoni is a counselor, I think you should take this matter to the Lord in prayer. I suggest you do what Jesus did. There were those that made fun of him, spit on him, hit him, but he didn't retalitate in kind, he died for them. Be kind to Carp, pour coals of fire on his head. Bless them that curse you.

The moon doesn't need to howl back.
It just ignores them and keeps shining.

You're not likening my persecutors to Caiphas, are you? Reminds me of a thread I posted ... a way back.

A good friend posted this in another forum some moons ago ... and it has always stayed in my mind... Please take it w/ a grain of salt:
" One might like to consider the following in the discussion:
Lk 22 (http://biblegateway.com/cgi-bin/bible?language=english&version=KJV&passage=Lk+22): 35 And he [Jesus] said unto them [the disciples], When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
From the context of this chapter, it would seems as thought Jesus is bringing to the attention of His disciples that while He was with them (on earth), He personally took care of everything they needed, even their protection, even when He was not physically in their company.
Now, Jesus is making it clear that His provision and protection shall continue with them, but that the physical circumstances will be different than it has been in the past.
Unlike in the boat during a storm, the disciples will have to exercise both physical and spiritual authority and power – more on their own. They will not have the luxury of going back and waking Jesus up, and pleading for Him to “do something”.
There are now the realities of the world to contend with, such has having to pay for things they need, changes of clothing to carry along. As it is also well known, there were road agents (robbers) that one would most likely encounter – guys that are willing to take your life for what ever you might have on your person. For this, one will need a means of self-protection: a sword, if you will. Today, a gun might serve you better.
Doctrine: You might be as gentle as a dove and keep peace with all men (where possible), if you are robbed of your coat, give the robber your cloak also. But, if the highwayman is bent on taking your life [sic ...even your cyber-life]: Take him out!!!"

Depends on who is Yoda... :) I have a lot of respect for Carpenter and have known him longer, he is one of a handful at the top of my respect list on these type of forums, even though he hasn't posted on this one much... but neither have I. :)
The post you quoted seems out of character for Carpenter, so I have to assume that I missed something, somewhere.

Luke 22:49-51 When Jesus' followers saw what was going to happen, they said "Lord should we strike with our swords? And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. But Jesus answered, "No more of this"
And he touched the man's ear and healed him. (NIV)
For whatever reason Jesus made sure his disciples took swords with them to the Mount of Olives (Luke 22:36-38). Perhaps to show them violence was not the answer, and that he did not come to lead an armed rebellion? (Luke 22:52)
Perhaps so he could perform one last miraculous healing?
Perhaps to demonstrate that love is the answer and not retaliation?

Simply support my sister's move ...
Carp ... thought I was speaking from my bias ... and was not aware of the situation ...
When he realized his attack was pre-mature and the Darcie was my sister ... he decided it was to late to acquiesce.
But revealed his animosity.

Our sword is the word of God. Our enemy is the power of darkness. Our warfare is not carnal.
What would Jesus do? Take up a sword? Cut and slice with his tongue?
What did Jesus do? Love your enemies. Bless them which curse you. Pray for them that despitefully use you. Turn the other cheek. Go the extra mile. Whatsoeve you do in Word or Deed, do all things in the name of Jesus Christ.

Change, it’s inevitable. It comes to all of our lives. Sometimes we welcome it, sometimes we have no choice. Either way change can be a scary thing.
Since my father passed away almost 2 years ago, change is all I've seen in my life. I've grown so much because of these changes. Some I didn’t want to accept, but looking back those changes have made me who I am today.
Sometimes when God is moving us toward change circumstances come into our lives to make us seek His will and look for His guidance.
With that said, we have seen God closing doors for us here in Wilmington since the early spring. Not knowing where to go and what to do, God miraculously placed a very lovely and anointed couple in our lives, Eddie and Sherri Cupples.
I am so excited to announce that we have decided to move to Jackson TN to be under their ministry at Love and Truth Church (http://www.loveandtruthchurch.com). We can't wait to see what God has in store for us. Pastor Eddie has so much vision to reach the lost. God has shown him the need to reach the Spanish community, and that’s where my husband and I come in to serve.
Wilmington has been a stepping stone in our lives. We have no regrets, we’ve learned so much here…but it’s time for a change!
Darse,
I have prayed for your situation for months; and now see God has shown you more of His unmerited favor and His divine will for the next leg of your journey.
Very few can fathom the depths of our journey since 2005. Nor perhaps can they guage the pain and victories that have brought you to your present position and has now shaped our walk. Some may not agree or care. Not withstanding, I am so excited about you guys stepping into grace and being propelled into His purpose.
I am so happy that God has opened this door and am confident that you are on the verge to seeing the fulfillment of the promises He's made for you and your family.
I love you and Godspeed.
I bet you would have had a much different message for her/them had they decided to move to assist Brother Becton in TN instead...
give me a break...

Daniel posted some personal and supportive comments in response to his sister's post about her move.
Other posters did not appear to understand that Dan was speaking to a family member via the forum and seemed to have taken umbrage at Daniel's tone of familiarity as being somehow smarmy.
They posted some digs that in another context may have been considered playful but in this context appear to have been hurtful.
The ninjas armed themselves with household appliances and commenced slicing and dicing. Carpenter felt his forearm to have been pureed over a misunderstanding and so brought out kitchen appliances to his aid. While he was toasting Dan, Dan himself seems to have realized that the matter was not worth the dust up and so offered to bury the Cuisinart.
Even as Dan was kicking it into the hole in his back yard, Carp's toaster burst into flames startling Dan who went into the garage for an upgrade to lawn and yard equipment. Now, with the combatants ducking behind the pitiful armor of garden wheel barrows revving the engines of their respective leaf blowers, weed eaters and hedge trimmers, the AFF community watches as Thad burns a bag of popcorn initiating another and unrelated war in the kitchen.

My take: if you bring personal situations to a public forum, things like this are bound to happen, because not everyone knows the details, and everyone has the right (and propensity) to comment, whether they know the whole situation or not.
There is no need for the condescension because Carp didn't know Darcie & DA are siblings! Apart from that small gaffe, I think his comments were okay....provocative, but not terribly rude or out of line, especially considering DA's publicly presented and commonly known philosophies and beliefs.
Personally, I think its kind of silly to have an intimate conversation on a public forum, and then protect one another from commentary like those reading shouldn't have had an opinion. Take it to PM, or let it be public fodder. You can't have it both ways.
In my opinion, Darcie was persnickety in her first little comment to Rico, saying, "Exactly, Rico, you don't know...." (Or it seemed that way to me.) If we don't know...then fill us in? If its private, then keep it that way. Or put a warning at the beginning of the thread to "Read, but Don't Comment Unless You Know All the Details."
DA, you're blunt and rough, so you shouldn't get mad when its returned to you, and Carp didn't attack your sister...he challenged what you posted, therefore you weren't defending her in your posts. (Or, if you were, there was no need for it.)
And are you really going to stick with the idea that you expect folks to tread lightly around your family? Your sister can gain her own respect. It works better that way.

It wasn't "intimate." It was more like, "Way to be, that's great..." To me it seemed like someone had a gripe against Dan and jumped in with a "there you go again" type of statement.
The stuff about the Bectons was unhelpful and evidence of an a priori critical mindset.
I think if Dan gets on your nerves then you should take him to task on the specifics. In this case it turned out the specifics didn't warrant taking Dan to task. But still we must slap him around because we demand that Dan be the exemplar of virtue while we try and placate those who want to see more slapping around?
But in the end, you are correct, "silliness."

What planet do you post on? If this was the expectation of DA he would be a miserable failure as would be we all.
As for the Becton comment and a pirori critical mindset, that goes both ways. I believe the implication that Darcie and her sweet family "moving into grace", an implication that they were leaving that which was not grace, prompted the Becton/Apostolic comment. If it was the result of the priori critical mindset it was prompted by the mirror image in the typical tone of DA's posts.

actually the singular of data is datum. But common usage would get your point across. Ok to use singular verb when referring to body of facts. Plural as a collective.

My usage is usually in the context of: the data "in the database", "on the hard drive", etc. or "The data is most likely intact". My "personal" definition of data is that it is a concept (and a concept is singular)... even though that is probably still incorrect. For me, data is a concept, meaning a collection of files, etc. intended to be used for a specific function.

A byte is 8 bits. A bit would be the smallest particle of data that you can get to, being either a "1" or a "0".
I was thinking the same thing... that's why I posted my comment about Luke Skywalker and Han Solo.

Not exactly... an air tank filled with air but at 0 p.s.i ( or the same pressure that is in the room you are in) weighs less than the same air tank in the same room filled to 3000 p.s.i. and there is actually a noticable difference.
Would a magnetic 1 weigh more or less than a magnetic 0? I have no idea but it is a question worth asking.
If a 1 is an electrical or magnetic charge and a zero is an absence of a charge, is it possible that they weigh differently (given my analogy above of compressed air weighing more than non-compressed air).
Any physics gurus that know whether electricity or magnetism has weight? We know that light has weight...

I frequently find myself asking questions where the actual answer is over my head and I wouldn't be able to understand it anyway. lol.
POTD ... WAY TOO FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!

After realizing his premise was FLAWED ... and exposing to the reading audience that his attacks on my character were based on his animosity towards me ... he has decided to step up his hate-filled posting ... by issuing a public challenge and threat that he will be a thorn/gnat in my life .....
He apparently is in a tizzy over my postings here at AFF ... he also has blasted me by inferring that I'm backslidden, drippy, corney, pseudo-spiritual, possessed w/ a spirit of condescension, and feigning my support for Darcie, my sister, for personal gain.

Silliness. :shifty
Everyone has the right to comment, it amazes me that of all the nice comments I received in that thread my brother's was the only one that was dissected. I don't have a problem with people commenting on my thread, so there is no need for a disclaimer. The point is Carp was out of line, and he was told several times that Daniel is my brother, until it finally sunk in.
(I think I've done well so far)
three more pages and Admin can send this to the cry room.
the old timers are hurt by the way.

Hello Fight Fans .... this is Howie Cosell on the AFF Sports Network.
This is promising to be an epic, but decisive, battle between the aging, under-sized veteran Carp Magillicutty and the champ, Big Papi Alicea.
We're still in the early rounds .... but the judges' score cards still have the current reigning heavyweight campeon on top.
In round one ...
McGillicutty threw the first glancing blow of the bout below the belt .... stunning our hero, Big Papi; but the Champ showed considerable amount of poise by throwing a skillful flurry of jabs and combinations ....
Carp's trainer, Jekyll, threw a water bottle at BP from the McGillicutty corner... but the BP's inate peripheral vision and dexterity helped him evade the plastic projectile.
A frustrated McGillicutty, then resorted to talking smack, but a thumping left hook landed flush on his temple, quieting him .... BP retorted, "That's my sister, Mick".
.... McGillicutty went flying into the ropes but was able to keep his footing, barely....
In Round 2 ...
Carp ... bucked up and challenged BP by motioning wildly before the bell ... then thowing out a flailing, wristy thread entitled "Let's Bury It" ... The aforementioned thread got little respect w/ an anemic 3 pages, 24 posts and about 500 views ....
A tickled BP smirked and retaliated with a devastating haymaker, last night, in this popular thread. Fight fans rose to their feet .... Right now it appears ... Carp is dazed.

But be that as it may.
I quoted the above because I learned long ago in debate that if a guy has to tell you how good he is and how good he's doing, he's afraid you wouldn't know otherwise without his reminding you.

The only problem with your analogy is this, in real title fights the younger, faster man always beats the stew out of the older guy. In the end though the older guy, from years of standing there taking hit after hit, generally prevails because of the brain damage incurred over the many fights. He doesn't feel your jabs, he is just waiting for your to be standing there smiling at the camera when he comes and drops you in the final round. Remember, the score card only counts if both are standing at the end. If he stands there long enough taking it he will become the crowd favorite and when your guard is down trying to figure out how that happened BAM!!, he drops you. My advice let the old man out of the ring before the young man inside of him kicks in.

Not a guru, exactly, but let me weigh in on the matter, anyway. :sly
Electrons have mass. So the electrons moving through a wire (electricity) have mass. However, throw the switch to turn off the flow, and the electrons don't go away. They just stop moving along the wire. So the question really is whether the mass changes when current is flowing. The only way that could happen is if relativity kicked in. An object gains mass as it gains speed. But even there, it's not that simple. The electrons in a wire are always moving, whether in electric current or not. When current is flowing, there is a net motion in one direction. When it is not, they move randomly, so no net movement in any direction. Bottom line, I'd have to say no, electricity has no weight (mass), at least not in a way that makes a 1 weigh differently from a 0.
But: not sure if all the above applies in semiconductors, like transistors on chips. When their state changes, I think there is a change in the number of electrons present at the junctions. Where those electrons go, I dunno. They must be carried away to somewhere else in the circuit, I suppose. So no net change in the mass of the computer, due to changing a 1 to a 0 or vice versa, I would think.
Magnetic charge? Nah. No mass there. And no mass change for when the polarity changes. It's just the orientation of atoms that are there, with or without a magnetic charge.
Now, paper tape and punch cards. That's where we have a difference in weight between a one and a zero! Ah. Those were the days. You could actually see the bits.

It seems to me that for a poster who has over 10,000 posts you would warrant more respect than you apparently receive. Having read a few threads here and there, it seems that you're mostly here on AFF just to argue and debate the OPers.
I bet Thad's fan-club is much larger than yours. :nod Both of you LOVE to talk :blah , but people actually seem to flock to him. Thad even has his own area though. Where's yours?
But at least AFF is still your house, right? :king
Me and Thad are roomies. Can't knock him, he's a bud. :guns

I'm there til Sunday evening.
Aww I hope he gets better soon! All of mine and my sisters 2 all have or have had in the last week this virus thats going around!! I had 2 home yesterday and 2 others home today and I am sick now on top of it all so we totally understand..just dont breathe the dallas air and you will be fine.. I hear its everywhere around here right now!
we made the mistake of going to the Pumpkin patch saturday.
should have stayed home I guess. But it was fun.
Mrs Ferd took lots more pictures.
which brings up a very funny story from last night.
Mrs Ferd just bought a new DSLA camera (that is the really espensive ones). She is taking a class on Monday Nights and last night she took some pictures to the teacher that she had taken with her Kodak point and click camera.
He asked her what she used to take them and when she told him the Kodak, he said "I hate to tell you this but you need to chuck the expensive one and go back to the kodak!
She better get really good with the new Cannon.

We just need to bring it around to talking about shoes now!

So you trying to say that you let Thad have his own room in your house?
Or are you more of a second-rate tag along that gets by with cheap rent?

Reminds me of a worldly song I used listen to .... LL, BTW is from my neck of the woods ... Jamaica, Queens
Don't call it a comeback
I been here for years
Rockin my peers and puttin postas in fear
Makin the tears rain down like a MON-soon
Listen to the bass go BOOM
Explosion, overpowerin
Over the competition, I'm towerin
Wreckin shop, when I drop these lyrics that'll make you call the cops
Don't you dare stare, you betta move
Don't ever compare
Me to the rest that'll all get sliced and diced
Competition's payin the price
[Chorus:]
I'm gonna knock you out (HUUUH!!!)
Mama said knock you out (HUUUH!!!)

Nah, it was really a compliment. she is pretty good with the camera. This new one is going to take some learning because all the settings are manual. But she is learning and she has taken some good ones with it too.
hopefully she will get it figured out soon and make me some money!
This was our third year at the Pumpkin Patch in Flower Mound. It is really great.

I am ashamed to answer that... I have about 50 pairs in a box for a garage sale right now but at this time and date i have 194 pairs of shoes!!!
Disclaimer.. some are wayyyyyyyyy old!!! Some I have no idea where they came from and some my former pastors ex gave them to me when she had surgery because she got to small for all her shoes so that was another 50 pair of NICE shoes!!! GLORAYYYYYYYYYYY Ok I aint complainin... I am blessed!! My husband knows I need shoes....LOL
I think it had to do with the 4 yrs I spent barefoot and pregnant LOL jk
Which one of you sisters wears the highest heels ?
Hopefully Darcie does. I'm not sure Daniel Alicea does the "shoes thing".
