Just Sayin'..........

Ok, this is so random, but I wanted to share it. Williams and Sonoma's Tamarind Coconut Curry Sauce is AMAZING!! I just sauteed 1/2 lb. shrimp and 1 cut-up chicken breast and put it in this sauce and am letting it simmer. I added some coconut and some pine nuts, just cause they're so fun. I am going to add tiny green peas to my part, but not to Eddie's because he hates them. Anyway, you just eat it over white rice.

It tastes like Bang-Bang Chicken and Shrimp from the Cheesecake Factory!

SO GO GET SOME!! We don't have a Wms. Sonoma here, so I have to wait till I go back to Memphis. But I WILL be buying more of this stuff.

Yeah, I have a tendency to do that.

Probably could have skipped the sauteing, and just thrown the shrimp into the simmering sauce just a very few minutes before serving. They cook really fast. (Depending on the size, of course.)

I have always avoided Williams Sonoma. I figured I didn't need the addiction. :D

That is not authentic messican food! There is a place called DelTaco that is closer to the real thing. :foottap

Blech, hate Del Taco! If I want authentic, there are at least 5 top notch, affordable restaurants within a couple minutes driving distance I will go to!! :smack :ursofunny

I have eaten at a Del Taco and it is about as authentic as a Big Mac is to a Ruths Chris steak!

It is decent fast food but nothing more. Now "In N Out" is first class fast food!!!!!!!!!

Best Mexican fast food I ever had was at Salsarita's. Alas, no locations in Texas, anymore. Used to be some in Austin, but they all closed. :sad

Food! I am so full. Just took advantage of the weather and grilled sirloin Steaks we got at Sams last night.

My wife said we are eating too good because we had Red Lobster last night. I replied that I thought so too - all the ladies could eat hot dogs.

Methinks Bezerkley's being "ironic" with us.

I've heard of Salsarita. Sounds like a step above Taco Bell, but still not REAL Mexican food. Kind of like Chipotle's.

True. Well, more like 3 or 4 steps above. But yeah, not quite "real". But: they have margaritas! :woot

I was saying that DelTaco was closer to authentic than Taco Bell. Both are terrible.

Down here there are Taqueria's on every corner. I just got back from a fine taqueria establishment. There was no drive thru speaker. A waiter and waitress were outside taking orders. Drove around the corner of the building and my food was handed to me through a sliding window.

Lettuce or cabbage on the taco's?
Did they serve creme for the gorditas?

I suppose after two recent trips to old Mexico I prefer the real food. The highlight of my last visit was when one of the Elder Brothers brought me
some Yucca from the mountains and cooked it down with tomatoes. I also
enjoy the diced cactus and tomatoes. That was no Tex/Mex. lol

Re: Just Sayin'..........

Margie, there are Williams-Sonoma stores at lots of malls. They're kind of an upscale kitchen supply store - everything from real expensive cookware to a gazillion gadgets, which is my favorite part.

However, recently I bought the Bourgenoise (sp) sauce for beef, and this Curry sauce. The lady working in there told me they were her favorites. Well, the beef stuff was good, but not fabulous. However, it was really easy. You just browned the beef and threw it in the crockpot with the sauce. I liked it better than Eddie did, but I like a lot of weirder foods.

This curry sauce, though, is amazing. I looked at their website and couldn't find it online, so I'm definitely going back to the store. Memphis has a Wms. Sonoma outlet, but I don't know if they carry the sauces. My sister is coming for Easter, and she's wanting to go over there to the outlet, so we will make a journey the day after we do church in Cordova, because it's just outside Memphis proper.

No, but there is some pretty fantastic Mexican food! Most of the places we go to are owned locally, not chain restaurants. We are only about 3 1/2 hours from the border, so it's pretty good stuff!

I actually tried one of those a couple of days ago and thought it was really good. I bit expensive, but the shrimp were some of the very few NON-breaded shrimp served at every place but Red Lobster.

I had leftover curry today for lunch. Now my house has a lingering Indian curry smell - not sure how long it will take for that to go away.
