Walgreens or CVS?

On my 9 mile trek to work I pass the construction sites for two CVS stores.

These are the new kids on the block. :neener

I've grown up with Walgreens. Where ever I've lived there was a Walgreens.

I'm curious........are they the same? Is there any reason to change my loyalty?

They are very similar but CVS stores are a bit cleaner inside and less cluttered. I compare Walgreens to Walmart and CVS to Target.

(Of course having a wife who is the managing pharmacist at a CVS makes me a bit partial.)

Kewl. Can you cut me a deal on a few grams of Oxycontin?

CVS took over the drug stores here. Savons Drug Store is now CVS. Savons was owned or is owned by Albertsons grocery chain...all confusing, there is also another called Osco. Many of these drug stores are just other store names under the same company

I prefer Walgreens only because I have always been very impressed with how organized their pharmacy system is. I switched to Walgreens from Eckerd back in the day, and just stuck with them. In our area, both CVS and Walgreens are clean and well maintained.

CVS is on the correct side of the street for me to stop on the way home, so we have started shopping there more.

Walgreens has just moved into our area big time in the northeast, i love em . We used to have CVS in the malls but they were crowded and crammed, we also have Rite Aid but i like Walgreens much better.

Folks like me who live in little bitty towns have neither walgreens nor cvs to choose from. It's either local pharmacies or travel 25 miles to walmart pharmacy or 45 miles to find anything else.

I can't tell any difference between the two. I'll stop at whichever one is most convenient.

Around here they *always* build them nearly across from each other. If you see a Walgreens, look around, you'll see a CVS.

We use Kroger pharmacy because of the gas perks - 2 prescriptions get you 10 Cents/gallon off Kroger gas. Our Walgreens has issues with confirming insurance coverage, so I just don't bother with them. CVS has just arrived in the Cordova area so we'll see how they fare against Walgreens.

Rite-Aid. They have better ice cream cones.

:grampa I don't know how a believer can be a partisan of one druggist or another. Why, in my day if the castor oil and prunes didn't fix ya then your faith wasn't strong enough.

You're right! I thought this was an Apostolic forum!

I think we should change the name of the forum! (etc, etc....) ;)

Thanks.

I suspect the grand opening is near since they're working on the landscaping.

And as stated, one of the stores is across the street from a Walgreens. The other new one is across the street from where I work; and there is a Walgreens one mile east and another W one mile west. :toofunny

Grand openings usually have good promotions____:bliss

Have to go with CVS:thumbsup, but I guess I'm a little bias because I used to work there for 4 years.

I personally like CVS better, but then again, Wal-greens always seems to have those unique things that you can't find anywhere else! Maybe I like both...LOL

Re: Walgreens or CVS?

One advantage of having prescriptions through Walgreens,
I can go to a Walgreens store a few blocks from my house and pick up a prescription and I've also gone to a Walgreens in Wisconsin and in Florida while I was there to pick up or refill a prescription.

Once in Florida, I called my doctor in Ohio for a prescription.
He called it in to Walgreens and I picked it up in Florida a little bit later.

Once while spending some time in Wisconsin I went online to Walgreens to refill a prescription and was able to pick it up at a nearby store there in Wisconsin.
