Unfinished Scriptures

Unfinished Scriptures

The way some folks think, it would seem that they think some scriptures were not complete and when they quote them they have to add to them.

Examples...... (The part in red is what some feel they have to add to the simplicity of certain scriptures.)

Ac 16:31* And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (as soon as you get baptized in water, in Jesus name and talk in tongues.)

Ro 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (if you go ahead and get baptized in water, in the name of Jesus, by an Apostolic Preacher who is living right, and then talk in tongues.)

Ac 2:21* And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (if you go ahead and do all of the pentecostal works and live holy and be perfect.)

Joh 3:16* For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life, (if that individual goes on and does everything else that is preached from the pulpits.)

Why can’t we let the scriptures say what they say without feeling like we have to add to them?

Can you add anymore “unfinished” scriptures?

Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God which are your pastor, the District Superintendent, the General Superintendent, the articles of faith, the affirmation statement and any "standards" that may be added by 2/3 majority vote."

Eze 12:2 "... they have ears to hear, and hear not:" what Been Thinkin' is saying, "for they are a rebellious house."

He that desireth a wife desireth a good thing... because then he'll have someone to clean and cook and raise his kids and bring him the paper and slippers at night and do everything he ever asks without asking or expecting or requiring anything for herself

3 steppers are not adding to the scripture. 1 steppers are not defining faith correctly. If you consider all of scripture, faith that saves includes obedience to all of scripture. If you believe and don't obey, you are not saved. Obedience includes water baptism, repentace, spirit baptism, holiness and enduring to the end. Calling on the lord is also a lifestyle not a onetime verbal declaration, if read in proper context. So your thread is pointless in trying to criticize 3 steppers. You need more understanding. You would know all of this if you read db's new birth. missourimary may have a valid point, however.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the Holy GHost; actually you must receive the Holy Ghost, its not just a promise, its a command, and if I don't hear you speak in tongues, you didn't get it, so repeat after me, ... lol

I love this message but lets let God be God and not coach folks to speak in tongues.

Lets look at those repented and baptized as brothers also, they will get what they need, lets stop the backdoor from opening when frustrated folks walk out after seeking the Spirit for a year or so, thinking they aren't really saved. God answers all his promises!
