Charismatic
What does that word mean to you?
Would you be offended if someone referred to you as a charismatic? Why or why not? Does the word "charismatic" take away from Apostolic Holiness in any way? |
Re: Charismatic
Yes, certainly! Charismatic people are those that have abandoned most of their standards of holiness and become a relaxed watered down bunch of so called, "Christians." They allow for adoption of other faiths into their mix and become confused and strongly worldly... Look at Pastor Johnson's church in Austin Texas, I live near there and have been to that church quite a few times, and they are sooooo ungodly! Girls there are having children out of wedlock now. They are a very charismatic church, and even claim to be...

I believe in Holiness and believe in a strong standard of Holiness at that. My church is a very conservative church and that is the way I prefer it. I disagree about the meaning of the word "charismatic". :-) |

Most of their groups dont do much for me but several of their Churches have stood out over the years. Charismatics in general believe pretty much like Protestants except they do honor and teach the Holy Spirit baptism. I dont see much what I consider true holiness teaching among Apostolic or Charismatic groups. I am not offened by the term Charismatic. Neither by the term Pentecostal, or Apostolic. |
Re: Charismatic
Charismatic is or was a liturgical church that embraced the gifts of the spirit.
Catholics began to speak in tongues and referred to themselves as charismatic. Research Catholic Pentecostalism or the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Sethern may refer to me as charismatic. I am "liberal" per standards, yet I consider myself to be very conservative. How I define charismatic, it's that pensacola/brownsville bark like dogs, grow like lions, and that benny hinn stuff. |

Re: Charismatic
Houston kinda hit the nail on the head. To me the term charismatic implies that someone embraces the Gifts of the Spirit. Technically Oneness Pentecostalism is a "charismatic movement" however separate from the "Charismatic Movement". As far as churches and groups letting down on standards of holiness, this is very heart breaking to me and I agree that it is against the will of God. I just don't think the term charismatic has anything to do with it. It irritates me a bit when fellow Apostolics refer to everyone who has walked away from pure doctrine as "charismatic".
