Buds!

No, this isn't a thread about the King of Beers, Marijuana, or best buddies, it is about---Spring!
I saw that the trees in our City is springing forth Buds on the branches!
Spring can't be far off!
Vancouver had in the early 1900's a thriving Japanese community with it's own Japantown. Now sadly, Japantown is just a footnote in History as the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour & war was declared.
The Japanese in Vancouver had their property seized & they were sent to interment camps. After the war was over, very few came back.
In the twenties though, 10's of thousands of Jampanese cherry & plum blossom trees were sent to Vancouver & so the streets in spring are beautiful!:thumbsup

Another aspect of war I didn't think about - going on in another country.

Sounds beautiful. I think cherry blossoms are pretty, pretty, pretty!

Ron, is this the normal time of year for things to bud out in Vancouver? In our area it would be FAR too early. But it has happened in the past. Made a mess of things when summer got here because the plants had already budded.

It can happen quite often, a lot of people do not realize that we have a pretty temerate climate in Vancouver because of our location.
There are a lot of places in the US that, even though they are farther south, get much colder & much more harsh winters.
One thing about Vancouver is this--you have to tolerate rain.
Our forests are actually called rain forests for a reason.
It rains on average about 6 months of the year here.

Down here...if the peach trees blossom early, there is a 50/50 chance we will have a cold snap and it kills the buds. There are no peaches that year if the buds freeze.
