Today's prophets have it easy. They can just make stuff up, and not even worry about whether it comes true. They're usually ambiguous enough that it either looks like it was a "hit", or there's a way to wiggle out. But sometimes they get a pass, even if it's specific and fails miserably. One famous guy said, on New Year's Eve 1989, that God would destroy the homosexual community (by fire!, bringing cheers from his fans) in the 1990s. He's still making millions.

And how about the visiting preacher that told me God said He would heal my brother? Well, I haven't bothered to track him down and tell him that one failed. Maybe I should, but why bother? Think he'd admit that he just made it up? Not likely. God probably just changed His mind, or healed my brother in Heaven.
