What do you do?

What do you do when you can't do what you know God called you to do? When things like health problems are your hindrance?

Re: What do you do?

Realize you weren't called by God to do the things you thought or Realize you were called but it's not God's time yet so seek Him for what you need to do in the meanwhile

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: What do you do?

I know people for whom this is quite a diliemma. Some of them feel they missed God by not responding to God's call and got married/obligations or developed health problems, yet still struggle with the call after many years. There are no easy answers that I know of.

If the call comes from God and has never ceased, then it is still in effect and we must respond. Sometimes this comes at great personal cost and no one can tell us how to fulfill it or what to do other than God Himself.

The answer is found on our knees. Reach Heaven until you know that you know you've heard from God, then do what He says do. Or if He releases you, be able to accept that as well. And be sure to be able to distinguish between the voice of God and our own self.

Re: What do you do?

How do you know God "called" you to do something? You can't, any more than Deanna Laney knew God told her to kill her children, or Abraham knew God told him to kill his child (*). Why not just live your life as you see fit, make the best of your situation, follow your interests, be at peace with your neighbors? Why imagine some lofty spiritual "calling", especially if it's something you aren't physically able to do?

* - Any argument that Deanna's divine command was bogus would equally apply to Abraham's. Never mind that God stopped Abraham from obeying and He didn't stop Deanna -- that's His prerogative! 'Course, that's a whole different topic! (Or is it?)

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
