Was it a rocket or missile that was shot over California?

Ive never seen an air plane leave a contrail like that, it would make more sense to say a jet but even then jets don't fly vertically up into the atmosphere.

It appears to take off from far out to sea...indecently you all heard about the stranded cruise ship?

U.S. Navy Seahawk helicopters were ferrying supplies, including Spam, crab meat, croissants and Pop Tarts to the ship from the USS Ronald Reagan, an aircraft carrier that reached the Splendor after it was diverted from training maneuvers to help.

Maybe it was just this aircraft carrier alone out there or maybe there were missile frigates or even subs out there and they lauched a missile.

Watch the video.

depending on the location of the person making the video, it is possible for it to look verticle when in fact it is not.

I saw the video. The Sun was setting. The contrail begins out at sea. There is a bright constant flash from the "air plane".

If the jet was flying from out at sea towards the camera, making it appear it was going vertical, you would not see that bright flash that looks like a rocket or an afterburner from a jet.

Since the sun was down it could not also be the sun reflecting off the "jet"

It looks like a missile. IF it was noon time Id be more likely to believe that bright light was the sun reflecting off the jet.

Hmm. You're right. That probably rules out Diet Coke, too.
