James Randy thinks it's a hoax. I very much believe it works and I have seen it many many times and have personally done it accurately.

James Randi is still looking to give away a million dollars to anyone who can do it under laboratory conditions. About 70% of those who apply for the challenge are dowsers, whether it be for water, oil, or precious metals. Not one person has done better then random chance.

A million you say? Gosh, I might be willing to try on the random chance that I'd do better than random chance.
Yup, but the stunt he tried to perform was simply making a small object spin using the power of his mind. The problem is once Randi put the object inside of a SEALED upside down glass container, Uri could no longer "breath" under the glass and spin it.
Another trick Randi employed was simply placing a bunch of Styrofoam peanuts around the object Uri was trying to move. Abracadabra, Uri suddenly couldn't do it!
James Randi promotes rather simple laboratory conditions (agreed upon by both parties ahead of time!) under which nearly ALL so-called miracles fail.
In their list of applicants, one is a "PROPHET OF GOD". Said Kerry would win the presidential election, then die in office. Among other things. Some of them came true! It seems that the application didn't get very far, though. No test was designed for him, which was disappointing.

When someone applies for the challenge they first negotiate a preliminary test (agreed upon by the applicant) that needs to be passed before the more stringent one which is for the million bucks. So far no one has come close to passing the pre-test. James Randi has made several public statements over the years that he would LOVE to award to money to someone!
70%+ of applicants are dowsers. The most common and common-sense pre-test is simply 20 or more holes -half with something buried (whatever the applicant wants!) in them and the other half with nothing. This is a test that no dowser has ever had a problem with, that is until they completely and utterly fail to score higher than what random chance would dictate. The key is that every single test James and his crew come up with is based on the Double Blind method. There is zero body language to direct someone, consciously or UNconsciously as they take a test.

Yep I know. I can only say I believe it works very well. I have tried to disprove it on several occasions - because I don't want to believe it.
