I have grown increasingly frustrated with posters bashing the UPC. I totally understand that many have had some very negative and hurtful experiences while attending a UPC church; however, holding on to the pain while tearing down the organization at every chance hasn't done anyone any good.
I have experienced hurt too and I thought that I would never go back, but I realized that if change was every going to occur it would be better orchestrated from within.
Instead of bashing the UPCI why not pray for your local church and the leadership? Stop hating and start loving!!!

Yeah me too. I guess I can consider myself fortunate... I have not had these horrific happenings. Oh I am well aware of issues, problems, contentions and even inconsistencies, yet I know these exist in various forms in all denominations.
God has been good to me!

I am a firm believer in the Old Paths
Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945
"It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves

Guess what? Most people haven't had these horrific problems. Furthermore if we were the fly on the wall in some of these horrific stories. We would find out that the one telling the story is the real criminal.

All religions and ideologies. Guess what people are people, and it's all a journey about life. What blows me away is that these supposedly disgruntles come around to post and moan. If you have left something, leave be free, go and do what you want. Why sit around weeping wailing and gnashing of teeth. Complaining about past experiences in a religion that wasn't your cup of tea. Old Tyme Pentecostal blah, blah, blah? Move on already, people posting on a forum and disparaging those who are still Old Tyme Pentecostal. Then getting upset if we don't agree and give you a foot massage. Whatever.
The UPCI will still march on, and the snivelers will continue to snivel

Victory, victory, will be mine.
Victory, victory, will be mine.
If I hold my peace and let the
Lord fight my battles.
Victory, victory, will be mine!

Speaking about problems the UPCI has doesn't mean that it's being bashed or hated. It's discussions that are important and need to take place in order for healing and change to begin.

Amen! to that, and an Amen! to CB1's opening post as well.
There is a "culture of silence" that can overtake any group of human beings. We need to be mindful of the importance of speaking out. When the UPC "hurt" me it was a time when I actually made things worse- for both myself and the UPC (or at least, that little part of it that was around me) by keeping the "code of silence."
I didn't realize it at the time, but I hurt my DS and others by not bringing something to their attention. Instead, I just quietly fell on my sword like a good soldato and aided the "bad guys" with my compliant stupidity. No more.
