What Obamacare is not
Obamacare is not, repeat, not socialist. So all of the uneducated people on here need to stop calling it such. I hate how socialist/socialism has turned into a dirty word that politicians use to smear a candidate and or policy. Obamacare is still be administered by private insurance companies.
"Obamacare cannot be considered socialist in any way," according to Greg Pason, the national secretary for Socialist Party USA.
"The ACA program relies on private health insurance companies to manage health services," Pason said. "A socialized system would not include 'health insurance,' but would be an actual national health-care system which would be publicly funded through progressive taxation and controlled by democratically elected assemblies of health-care workers and patients."

You're arguing semantics here. It's not socialist, but it's leading to the socialist single-payer system. Sen. Reid stated publicly that bummercare is the first step to a single-payer system. So regardless of whether bummercare is socialist or not doesn't matter...it's still leading to socialized healthcare.

Re: What Obamacare is not
The government FORCES Americans against their will to pay for health insurance under penalty of fines and imprisonment. You're right, its less like socialism and more like communism.

Re: What Obamacare is not
Quote:
The open enrollment period for Obamacare coverage is slated to last for six months. If the first week's total were an indication of how many Americans will sign up during that time through the Obama administration's website, its final tally would reach a paltry 1.32 million.
|
Quote:
If the state-run exchanges were to have a similar response rate for six months, the national enrollment total would be approximately 2 million.
|
Remember this number - 7 million. That's how man people must be enrolled in bummercare for it to stay afloat financially.
Quote:
7 million the Obama administration would need, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, in order to balance the new health insurance system's books and keep it from financial collapse.
|
If the trend continues, there will be only 2 million signed up for bummercare -- 5 million less than what is needed.
Currently, only 51,000 (FIFTY-ONE THOUSAND!) have enrolled in what obama and the Democrats have declared to be the greatest govt achievement since the New Deal!
51,000! Out of tens of millions of Americans, 51,000!
