Re: Just How Complicated and Convoluted Can We Mak
I guess this scripture doesn't apply to Apprehended!
Matthew 7:1* ¶ Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2* For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3* And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4* Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5* Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
And yes, you can say this is taken out of context. But you can't take the spirit of what He's saying and throw it out! Oh ...maybe YOU can!
Oh yea, I know the answer to this! He wasn't judging he was fruit inspecting! But you gotta be there where the fruit tree is to be able to inspect the fruit and I don't think apprehended is that old! Well.....maybe he is!

God ordained it. But, do you think that man being obedient to a command of God is something that can help Jesus save a man? So, you believe you have enough good in you to save yourself, or help with your salvation, by a work?

Re: Just How Complicated and Convoluted Can We Mak
I would like to relate a story, for whatever it's worth.
A young man, (in a dream) arrived at the Pearly Gates. Upon his arrival the Lord was at the gate welcoming some in and others He was turning away.
He suddenly stopped and asked the young man if he would help Him for a few minutes.
The young man was so proud to be of help to the Lord and he sure wanted to make certain he did everything right.
He looked up and there was his mom and dad and he immediately welcomed them in. Following them was his brother and he again welcomed him into Heaven. There were some folks from his church that he was so proud to be able to swing wide the door of Heaven.
But suddenly there was a man whom he did not know. Fear gripped his heart. Would he get this right or would he miss something? After a few moments he called out loudly for the Lord to please come back to the gate.
With tears in his eyes he proclaimed to the Lord, "Lord I can't do this! I don't know this person's heart! I don't know if he's right or wrong! I may get it wrong!"
Whereupon the Lord spoke to the young man and said, "Your right son, your can't do it.....and further more, you can't do it back on earth either! You can't be judging and deciding who is right or wrong for you can't see their heart!"
Man looks on the outward appearance, God looks at the heart!

BT, I am a firm believer that true repentance and faith in Christ alone, both being a grace of God, will result in changes in the life, a new nature birthed by the Spirit. It will not appear as standards, per se, but the change will be evident. Good story though.

Thanks UnTraditional. I feel so strongly that when we start making ourselves as God, regardless the circumstances, we are out of the will of God.
How many ministers have you known or known of that went wrong, failed God, fell from Grace, as we say! Yet all the time they were around the other preachers, at Camp Meetings, Conferences, etc. no one discerned this. If we're so capable of making these major determinations about each other why are none of the "big preachers" ever detected? And I don't mean that in an ugly way.
If I'll take care of me and you'll take care of you and Bro. Strange will take care of himself I think we'll all be okay. I believe the scripture did say..."Save yourself.....!"

I'm amazed that some would take the simplicity of the cross, simple faith in what Christ has done for us, and attempt to complicate the issue with codes, requirements, formulas, and creeds. Salvation, the incredible covering that was provided on the cross, has been turned, by many, into a complicated mix of actions and formulas on our part...for example, particular phrases and words said at baptism, requiring someone to same something no one understands, followed by an adherence to rules, regulations, and dress codes invented by man and not supported by scriptural directives or principles.
1) Romans 10:4......"All who believe in him are made right with God."
2) Romans 10:8..."Salvation that comes from trusting Christ–which is the message we preach–is already within easy reach."
3) Romans 10:10..."For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved."
4) Acts 13:39..."Everyone who believes in him is freed from all guilt and declared right with God"
5) Acts 16:31... "Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved."
6) Romans 5:1..."Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of that Christ our Lord has done for us."
7) John 11:25..."Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die like everyone else, will live again."
8)...Galatians..."...that the Cross of Christ alone can save."
It's appalling how people can take the simplicity of the gospel, the simplicity of salvation accomplished through the sacrifice of Calvary, and complicate it!
