"Plead the blood" is very scriptural, though not written as such in the bible. It means we are appealing to the fact that the blood of Jesus was shed in His death, seeing that BLOOD encapsulates the overall thought of His death, and why He died. Since He died for healing, salvation, and atonement, and dominion over the enemy, pleading the blood means we are standing on the what the work of the cross accomplished for any one of those provisions.

Saying "In the name of Jesus" is actually saying the same thing.

Re: Things That Aren't In The Bible...

Some of these phrases not found in the bible remind me of something. Many are not written as such, but the concept is written. And many of these phrases were coined by people who really knew the scriptures enough to be able to express a synonymous phrase with what is written in order to more easily relate it to others.

True Christians will always be cheerful. ("If you're a real Christian, you should have joy... even if something really bad has happened." "If you really had the Holy Ghost, you wouldn't be depressed." etc.)
Your walk with God can be measured by material blessings.

Or no works accompany salvation.

Re: Things That Aren't In The Bible...

How many stripes did Jesus take on his back? (Hint, the bible does not say. It is only an assumption that he was beaten 39 times. The Jews had a custom of 40 save one or 39 however he was beaten by the Romans who had no such law. He could have been beaten 5,10,20, or 50 times it just is not recorded)

Except a man be born again of the water and of the spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of God. (A common misquote, of John 3:5)

Streets of Gold... Really? I'll have to check that out. That will be a good one. I thought that was in there.

Sinners left behind... I like that one... because in the examples given you WANT TO BE the one left behind.
