Re: Adornment!!
I haven't read all of these posts, but the bible is book of principles, and we check things out by biblical principles.Motive is a big factor in why we do things, and God looks at our heart and our motives.
And too just because something is not our preference don't make it a sin either.
Holiness is a biblical principle, but being Holy doesn't mean we have to be nuts and flakes.

It is still a heart issue, period. And motives for why a person "adorns" has more to do with it then weather perfume is more seductive then red lipstick or some scientific paper concerning the physical conditions in aroused women being linked to the makeup industry etc.
At the end of the day I do not need to assimilate everyone to my personal beliefs or preferences concerning the way I apply Biblical principles of Holiness. If I preach the truth in love ans allow God to do the work in a person's heart, then they will become what God wants them to be as they allow Him to lead them. What the argument alot of times turns into is that there should be a uniform look to "our women" etc. What God may be doing in an individuals life may not be a cookie cutter look or the same way He is dealt with me.
At any rate...

Good points! I may be older than many on here, but I do not expect
everyone (especially ladies) to think, look or act) like me. I love people.
Because most on this forum do not personally know me, they don't know
why I may say some things. I am not being critical or condemning the way
they look, etc. I don't know them either. So WORDS, what comes out of
the heart, by way of our mouth, is the only way we can really express
ourselves, thoughts, etc.
I don't know what the person I responded to, looks like, whether they
wear make up or otherwise, unless they mention it! Not my call!
So all we have to gauge a person by on a forum, unless they have a
picture for their avatar, is their WORDS!
Still, I don't make it a practice to tell anyone how to dress, etc. But words
can cause concern and my love and concern for people provoke me to res-
pond sometimes.
I don't have to say a word. But if it causes one person to think more
responsibly, and perhaps save one home from disaster, then I will not keep silent.
Oh, and by the way, The Lemon, I was not in the least aggrevated with you!

In all seriousness, if makeup is wrong, so is perfume. Every argument used to condemn makeup applies equally to perfume.
And high heel shoes.
And fancy hairdos.
You simply can't bring up arguments to support one pet issue, and then not apply it across the board. Well, you can, but you lose credibility.

Well, you can't *see* perfume, but they are both advertised as alluring.
Although this is rather a strawman argument since all makeup isn't categorized under "bright red lipstick", not to mention the fact that bright red lipstick isn't even in style these days.

The point is/was that hardly anyone wears "bright red lipstick" unless they are modeling for a magazine cover.
This is sort of like saying in response to someone who thinks shorts are OK on women (or shirts showing skin above the elbow), "so you think that someone wearing a bikini to church is ok????".
Straw man.
