Adornment!!

Ok, all Apostolic women wear perfume...correct. All Apostolic men wear cologne...correct.

Question....I'm just curious. I've been pondering on this all day. What is the difference between makeup and perfume/cologne?? Why can't our women wear makeup, but can wear purfume?? Just a thought....

Yup. The pretzel logic that says hair dye, makeup, etc are "not natural" or "adding to what God made" can be said for hairspray, deoderant, panty hose, etc, etc.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Those kind of sermons stink.

Re: Adornment!!

Honestly, some people must secretly rub their hands in delight when given something to preach against. After all, without visual (or odoriferous) separation, how will the world know you are saved... and they are not?

Well I have found a new utensil, in the devils tool box, and the heads are gonna roll if Jesus rocks!

There's no difference. And I think a very nice perfume can attract a man's attention much more than a little makeup on your face.

I never understood that one either.

People will not admit that this might even be true, but it is scientifically factual that sexual arousal causes women's eyes to darken around the edges, and lips to gorge with blood, and cheeks to blush. Those who began make-up knew this. So they mimicked it with make-up to unconsciously cause men who see women in make-up to be more attracted to them, as though they are getting the message that the woman is sending signals to them. To say, therefore, that make-up is silly and does not help a woman look more attractive is to deny what actually is involved in physical attraction. So, it is more a matter of whether or not a man might want his wife causing this to occur with other men, than make-up being something silly. The idea of scent and make-up is identical, as RandyWayne said.
