Oh, like tongues? Any others?

But still, if there are signs today, what scripture tells you 1) what signs will not occur? and 2) how can you distinguish a true sign from a false one, even if it does appear in the approved list of signs?

That happened one time at youth camp. The kids started running around on all fours barking. This was right after we stood in a line so we could be slain in the spirit. It was a UPC Camp, and the preachers over this were pretty well known. One of the local preachers told everyone to leave the building, he was not going to let the barking continue.

Agreed. This is why in Hinny Benn meetings there are a lot of bodies hitting the floor. The reason is people see something happening and walk away happy. That is why if sister so and so screams in a meeting, we walk out happy believing something happened. As long as we fall for that stuff real miracles won't happen or will continue to be more rare than we want

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Gold flakes in the air...

Don't worry about testing the gold flakes. Just wait and see if the preacher takes an offering. If he does, don't believe the flakes.

After all, who needs an offering when God's raining gold?

That's a great point!

Job 28:6 KJV The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold.

Gold dust is like gold leaf. Cannot get any amount of it worth anything, anyway.

you missed the part about praying for a dead guy? that is a really cool sign.

tongues will cease... when perfection arrives...

everything is subject to the word of God. Even how God deals with mankind. Not because God cannot righteously deal with man in ways beyond the scope of scripture (he can as everything he does is righteous) but because the word of God is the guide post for us to understand him.

I saw that. Thought it went without saying that that would be a really cool sign. I have never seen it happen. It is one of the signs in the Bible, however, unlike gold flakes. Have you seen it happen?

Has perfection arrived? Have tongues ceased? I'm confused about the point you're making.

That I understand. What I don't get is how any of this helps us sort out fake signs from real (if any) signs. Gold flakes happen, though this sign is not mentioned in the Bible. Raising the dead doesn't (far as I know) happen, but that sign is in the Bible.

Still, the Bible does warn about false signs, so there is that. It doesn't tell you how to determine if a sign is fake, though. Sadly.
