Re: Is Dolly Parton Pentecostal?

.

"Listen to the words of "Daddy Was an Old Time Preacher Man." You can almost see it and feel it"

i believe Dolly wrote this song, with her aunt, about her grandpa..

"I remember several years ago on one of the Country Awards Shows. Dolly sang "He's Alive." She had a choir backing her up. Before the song she said, "Now as my mother would say, I hope you get a blessing out of this song." Something happened at that awards show. An anointing came upon Dolly and that choir. People in the audience were raising their hands and you could hear people rejoicing in the Lord."

i believe that choir was the Christ Church Choir, directed by Landy Gardner, and I agree with you.

Barbara Mandrel has also mentioned that she has a Pentecostal background and she recorded my cousin Chuck's song "He Grew The Tree'.

In Reba's first book she mentions that her grandmother spoke in tongues and her band's funeral was preached by Dan Scott at Christ Church.

Re: Is Dolly Parton Pentecostal?

Dad can sit and name names as to which stars came from a Pentecostal or very similar background. I mentioned something about it one day, and he named off a number of people, 20+ I suppose, and told me which had been Oneness and which had been Trinitarian. I heard that Dolly Parton belonged to a Charismatic mega-church in the Nashville area. I heard that they put a placard of her advertising her movie 'Best Little Whore House in Texas' or some such thing. It is sad and disgusting. God promised strong delusions to those who would not love the truth, and the Parton family certainly had their opportunity.

Re: Is Dolly Parton Pentecostal?

Whether or not she professes anything now, she has personally told a minister whom I know that she was filled with the Spirit while talking in tongues. She said she "had that" once in her life.

Now bringing up that movie isn't that fair to Dolly.... It was a couple of decades ago and not her favorite film. Just one that her agent talked her into doing right after her 9 to 5 gig.

I hope they have stuck to that as they have gotten older.
Tia swears and dresses in low cut clothes and bikinis in her series The Game. I don't follow Tamera's career.

I do not expect better of actors and actresses, however I do expect better of churches. I do not think that a church that promotes that filth is worthy of the name.
