If Microsoft does not advance with modern technology, they will be left behind in history along with the 8-track tape. The smart-phone in your pocket has a superior operating system to ANY windows based platform. And on another note.....what virus-scan are you required to have for your phone or your I-pad? Hmmmmm

My TI calculator doesn't require virus scans either, does that mean it is superior? The ipad simply cannot handle multiple things going on at once, other then music in the background, which precluded most viruses from working or having an active hook into anything.
As far as memory requirements, 4 gigs is truly the sweet spot for Win7 64-bit. I have 8 myself (soon to be 16) but I use one of the few applications which actually uses it, Photoshop.

Randy, let's see how you feel in 2 years. I seriously doubt we will be using these antiques.

Re: Windows 7 or Vista
Absolutely 7 over VISTA. As someone else mentioned Vista was glitchy.
Crackerjack said they changed the name from Vista to 7 but it was not just a name change. It is a new operating system.
Also keep in mind that Microsoft will only support old operating systems for a limited number of years and VISTA is now several years out of date.
Because things change so fast I do not recommend buying used computers unless they are just an absolute bargain. New desktops and laptops can be found for under $300 now and really good ones for under $600.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Yes, 7 in a new operating system, but it was essentially a remake of Vista. Vista had so many problems that they had to get rid of the name. At least, that is what a very knowledgeable IT tech told me. I bought a new computer just before 7 was released, it came with Vista and a free upgrade to 7. I believe the upgrade keep much of the Vista system.
Anyway, that's my understanding, but I could be wrong.

I spend about 300 just on a video card. But then again, I build a top of the line computer in 2000 and it lasted until 2009. If you only spend 300 it will only last you about 3 years. Just keep that in mind.

Re: Windows 7 or Vista
Is it best to buy from a retail store or direct from a company, like Dell? I prefer Dell computers.
