Re: father/daughter purity ring/necklace?

Back in the 90's our youth group back in Texas did the purity rings. My wife was one of the volunteers that helped make them at some jewelry shop I believe.

The only problem I had was that my wife kept wanting to take a vow of celibacy!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I've never given my daughter one (mainly because I do not have a daughter) but if I did it probably wouldn't be a ring, rather it would be a 14th Century chastity belt.

I suppose that you would be the only one with the key, and that it would be cinched good and tight?

It would be dangling from my gun holster, right next to the spare clip.

I think a ring would be really sweet, TS. I'm not sure you need one, though. I would emphasize it being a symbol of her commitment to God--not to her Dad. JMO!

It should be for her to wear until a wedding ring takes its place.

Re: father/daughter purity ring/necklace?

What should be Approx age of such?

Maybe 13-16?

I just found out today that my daughter is "secretly" taking me to an out of town "father daughter banquet" for my birthday. I'm so excited! She's only 7....I stumbled across an email verification of it, and got my wife to fess up. I'll act very surprised when she tells me...
