Re: Common Myths about Gay Christians

The "gay" Christians that I know struggle with their desires, and wish to be free from them, just as the "crooked straight" Christians struggle with lust toward the opposite sex, and wish to be free from them. If you understand this statement you also understand how much more difficult the struggle is for the gays. Their desires are doubly objectionable. I recommend a book written by our senior pastor called, "Lepers Among Us" by Jim Reynolds, it is on Amazon, the story of seven gay men that he has personally mentored in Christ over the last 20 years. Five of these men, pastor has performed weddings for (to women, of course), and these five now have children and are members of our church. The other two, are living celibate lives, and have been for many years. The church needs to rid itself of it hatred of those caught in same sex sins. Jesus died for them, just as much as for the rest. The name of the book was what the seven wanted as a title, not because they were lepers, but rather that is how they felted that they were treated, prior to pastor ministering to them. He will tell you that the Lord took him to school in the process.

Re: Common Myths about Gay Christians

Who has ever said they were hated?

You see hate where there is none, just as so many times others do also.

Many people hate them. We don't need to post all the crimes committed against them, rants, and "God hates ____" signs that are seen so often.

Most of the time, among our people, we condemn their sin as an unforgiveable abomination or indicator of reprobacy. And we say we tell them this out of love because people are too afraid to look like they hate.

I have relatives who are gay and I am not afraid to show them love. I can love a gay person and not understand the lust that goes along with being that way.
Sometimes gay people don't even understand their desires. Many have never felt attraction towards the opposite gender. Many can trace their feelings back to when they were very young children. Blind studies have shown some gay people biologically react to same gender pharomones, even if they haven't acted on their desires. This is why I leave open a biological predisposition rooted in the flesh.

Much would possibly depend on the relation to the father. Was the father violently aggressive or cold and distant?

Some of this could also explain the perversion of sado-mastichistic sexuality as well.
Same happens to little girls who have bad relationships with their fathers. Sometimes their need for male affection boils over into promiscuity. Psychology is also a factor.

I never ever heard it's unforgivable.

Me neither, unless like any other sin, they do not want forgiveness.

Leaving out the perversions of the Westboro wannabe Baptist Church and their disturbed, disgusting, and illiterate brethren, I do not know of any Christian who truly hates gay people. I believe that this is an area where more preaching from the Corinthians list of the works of the flesh is needed in our churches. The key lies at the end of the list with the words, "And such were some of you." Every single person is guilty of some item on that list, and it would behoove us as Christians to remember that.

Sadly some who wish to be known as Christians have yet to remove their name from that list (see 'church' mentioned above).

You will get no argument from me on this. These are just the basic facts of humanity. I have also heard stories of men who were so badly mistreated by their wives that they developed an attraction to other men. If one is not on guard, any sin becomes possible.
