the free market isn't working because healthy young people aren't buying insurance. why are insurance premiums so high? how can people with preexisting conditions get coverage? even if insurance companies were federal, that doesn't solve the problem of healthy people not buying insurance and sharing the burden of the elderly even though they will eventually be in the same situation. i bet you an ice cream smiley that obamacare will be approved because if not, insurance companies will lose out to expanded medicare and the people who will suffer are the sick and the middle class who can't afford coverage.

what are your free market solutions to high premiums and people with preexisting conditions? the mandate solves the problem of the uninsured and keeps insurance companies in business.

DM,
I am just walking out the door and wanted to respond to your first post. I don't have time right now. I'll get back with you later.

I hope you don't really believe that the government to give all the same coverage if this thing fails at the SC. If you are 70 and older, good luck on getting the kind of coverage a younger person will receive.

It is not an equal opportunity agenda that BO has presented. Read the policy.

Also, it will cost MORE than what we have been paying, so the money issue you presented is wrong.

Do I agree with the way free insurance market has been handling insurance, NO. They need a watch dog that is NOT the insurance company as they pretty much have had in the past.

Re: Obamacare goes to Supreme Court Monday

The issues of health care are very similar to the problems with the housing market, government meddling!! Requiring hospitals to serve anyone who comes in, whether they are citizens or not. That alone raises the cost of health care hugely, but before the libs on here go berserk, don't forget that all legals that are in desperate need have government programs. But the Demos want to forget the rules and serve any and everyone, as great as that sounds it is unworkable, because someone has to pay.

Example after example of leftist politics is readily available: Houses that poor folks can't afford, voting without documentation of citizenship. Health care without going thru the system.

Without any order we have chaos, without laws that are enforced we have 14 million illegals, that require health care, schools and on and on. Of course, again the Demos have an agenda, the only way that they can get elected is to support consistent breaking of the law, and prohibiting passage of commonsense enforcement. However, as J. Wright has stated, albeit wrongly, the "the chickens are coming home to roost", in the form of unsustainable debt!!!!

If we don't change course sharply and very soon, this country is going to be marginalized in the world as increasingly irrelevant!!!! That is a sad prospect, for this the greatest country that has ever existed in the history of the world.

I am brave enough.

If the SC is compelled to take an "all-or-nothing" approach to this, then the whole thing will be declared unconstitutional. I honestly don't want that. There are parts to the law that are insane, but the good intent is there.

Something has to be done to better protect those who are too ill to get insurance or not financially able to afford the care they need.

Remember the 13 yr old girl in California.
Remember your neighbor.
Hopefully, you aren't the one who becomes so ill that the only medicine that can adequately treat you is too expensive for you to purchase on your own.

Hopefully, you aren't the one who pays his insurance premium for years and then gets ill-- only to have your provider raise your rates so high that you can't afford it.

Hopefully, your insurance provider doesn't just drop you after you've paid your premium for years before you were dagnosed with cancer or diabetes.

DM - I believe it will be a split decision. They will strike down the individual mandate, but leave the rest alone for Congress to try and clean up.
And don't ask me to post that BHO is a great leader.
I could not do that in all truthfulness...
Unless you believe that leading us into European style socialism is a great thing.
Although I fully believe that his preferred style of government is fascism.
As evidenced by this definition:
