I would not use a Bible whose publishers are intent on giving us a 'gender neutral translation'.
Also, NO BIBLE uses 'the original manuscripts' or even 'the oldest manuscripts' alone. ALL translations are based on a TEXT, created from the existing copies of manuscripts.
THEN the text is translated into the chosen language.
I happen to believe the KJV is the most powerful, most elegant, and richest translation in English. It is also based off a different TEXT than what is used for the NIV, NASB, and many other versions.
Describing the differences between the KJV and the NIV without explaining the difference in underlying TEXT fails to accurately reflect what those differences are, and WHY those differences exist.
Also, just because SOME of the 'oldest manuscripts' are missing verses doesn't mean anything except that some old, barely (or never) used copies of Scripture had stuff missing from them (which might explain why they were barely or never used).
