My first Harley Davidson was a 1961 XLCH, then bought a basket case 1948 Panhead, restored it, and sold it for a 1953 Panhead basket, and a 1966 first year shovel, didn't restore either one. Left both of them as bob jobs, you ride, so I need not explain. I then bought a Indian Chief, found out that they were more suited for boat anchors, then to ride, and restored it and sold it. I obviously didn't learn my lesson and acquired a Indian Scout, rode it around sold that, when a friend of mine made me an offer, and took it and walked home from the bar. I owned a few more antiques, a really nice 1928 Harley Davidson JD that I regretted selling. My main bike which I rode all over the country was an 1982 FXRS. I owned a 1984 (first year FXST) didn't like the ride or the handling, and while they might look classic, I didn't desire to ride anything for long distances that would send a zap through my tail bone to the top of my cranium. Now, rigids are out of the question, as well as straight pipes. There was a time that straight pipes were my thing, in High School I thought they were great, when my school councilors warned to ban me from bringing the bike to school. As I got older straight pipes bothered me, and now we are no longer partners. Never thought that would ever happen.

Harley Davidson wasn't my only choice of machine, but I owned BMW, Moto Guzzi, I regretted selling a Eldorado 850. I owned Suzuki GS 1000, to GSXR 750 Sling Shot, and 1100. My garage was pretty crammed with bikes, more of those that I owned personally then those owned by my customers.

Started when I was 13 sweeping the floor at the local bike shop, and working on my friends bikes in a two car garage converted to a shop, then ended up owning my own motorcycle shops. To this day I will still work on bikes, but only for those who NEED it, as I do for brothers and sisters who need their car's repaired, lawn mowers, tractors, and an occasional wheel barrow.

My comment on the Softail was due to my belief that they aren't the most comfortable rides, and are close to the old AMEN SAVIOR frames (remember the ones that had that plunger spring which the axle went through in the end of its hardtail?) which is only my own personal opinion.

Please forgive me for my view of the FXST model, also please accept my apologies if you own one. Also, please accept my apologies if you ride an Indian Chief, I never personally liked them. If you own one or owned one I apologies as well.

Safe riding in Jesus name!
Good show.

I owned an Indian Power Plus at one time, with sidecar.
Also a BMW with sidecar, many Triumphs......BSA...Ariel...AJS....DKW...etc.it's a long list. Motorbiking is an addiction.
Right now: 2010 Honda CBF1000, 1974 Triumph Bonneville, 2008 Triumph Bonneville.

I had quite a few BMWs 1970 R75, 1973 R90S, with sunburst paint job.

I had a BMW 69S with Steib sidecar (white) my service writer in my shop use to call me the Bad Humor man (obvious play on Good Humor Ice Cream).

British bikes weren't my favorite (unless it was a Greeves, I liked Greeves dirt bikes ) my issue on British machines were that they were of the devil. Because after all they used Lucas Electrics, and everyone knows that Lucas was the Prince of Darkness, and as the motto went, "Lucas, prince of darkness, thou shalt NOT ride at night!"

Good riding, the 2010 CBF 1000 is a really nice machine.

Looks clean.

I had a Kawasaki W650 and a couple of old pre-unit BSAs and Triumphs.
Wanted to restore them but my want never met a need, traded, cannibalized, and sold them.

The Kawasaki was a 1965 and was nearly bullet proof. I traded it for a 1970 TS 250 Savage.

Also had a Silver Jubilee rode it once, and sold it to a guy who never rode a motorcycle in his life. I taught him how to ride on the Jubilee I sold him.
