God can heal but people have a tendency to pick at other people's scabs.

Thus the unsaid doctrine of "Leave it at the apostolic alter!". Pray while trembling and having a few "Mmm shaka!"'s shouted in your face, and no one has to deal with any issues afterwards. If anyone DOES that just means the prayers and "Mmm Shaka!"'s weren't loud and forceful enough.
Yes, you know if you say mmmmshaka, all that emotional trauma goes away!
NOT!
As I said in another thread recently, I think there is a real God experience but I'm afraid a lot of the mmmshaka is just emotional hype. After all, it's a lot easier to tell someone with serious problems to shockamoo than deal with the issues. Tsssssss. (That's me licking my finger and touching it to a hot pot.)

...or you did not receive the blessing of the mmm Shaka!
Fact is, I have not found any church that is equipped to handle a person who may have grown up like little Beth. She has exceptional parents who recognizes that there were big problems. For the most part, children like this go unnoticed or are cast aside as rebellious.
I wonder what she is like today. I wonder what she would be like if her parents told her she was just a very bad sinner for doing those things and had not gotten her any help?

The Good Lord knew just who to put those children with.

Maybe try "Mmmm, Shakira".
